Well, it was just an idle fancy. But maybe there are ways of making them tell even if they don't want to. smiley - evilgrin

Pretty good. If one reads the newspapers over his morning measure of grog, one will see that these are plans that will be going ahead over the next year to two years.

It's such a shame smiley - sadface But i dont think that they will be able to justify it either. There's too many people who think that 'their' money should be spent on things that they directly benefit from only.

if the worst should happen you can find your captain over on facebook where he goes under the name kjeld poulsen kürstein

you can also email to kjeldpoulsenkurstein on yahoo. of course you need to insert an @ and a dotcome where it makes most sense smiley - whistle

So are we still docked in Samoa?
The clock on the wall over there tells me it is still early afternoon. A good time to get some sun.

I pronounce it (in my head anyway) as it's spelled assuming that the J is a y sound. so the middle sounds like yell.

How far out am I?

I have a friend who's surname is Poulsen so that I managed smiley - smiley

he told me to say it without the j or the d smiley - winkeye Mind you that may be because he felt sorry for my English accent...

I have to say that when I try to say it out loud, I end up with a noise that sounds a bit like 'key-eld'. smiley - shrug

If it's acompletely silent j then I'll just pronounce it Captain like I usually do... I've had one or two enquiries from conversations on facebook... ("Who's that weird bloke and why do you call him captain?")

smiley - biggrin

1. first lose the 'j'
2. then lose the 'd'
3. imagine my name is 'kelvin'
4. now lose the 'vin'

you can't begin to imagine the things i've been called in my life. kjeld is an ancient norse first name, kürstein is a german'ish sort of family name (could be constructed to hide our true identity, we are not quite sure) and the middle name poulsen is also ancient norse (pouls søn = son of poul)

growing up in germany nobody could pronounce my first name - after moving to denmark nobody knows how to pronounce my family name smiley - rofl

but quite frankly, my dears, i don't give a damn smiley - whistle

what's in a name anyway? smiley - biggrin

Last year there was an enchanting animated film called "Book of Kells." Keller is a family name that my sister-in-law grew up with. Now that the pronounciation has been explained, it's all cool at this end. smiley - ok

Isn;t the book of kells a celtic illumination or ceollection of them? Not doubting there's a film of the same name of course!

Keller is cellar isn't it? hence bierkeller. which is a drinking and dancing establishment I have been known to frequent and once even played an awful gig at...

"Cellar door" is said to be the most beautiful phrase in the English language, according to "Donny Darko."
