I was haveing a look at the links on the calender and on the 25th 
is a link to German carnivals . Its a well written entry but what a suprise to see the date and time all this Germanic frivolity kicks off . The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month . So when we are all standing in silence rembering the dead of war , they are having a party . Bit sick IMO.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. Originally I wanted a link to the start of Lent, but didn't find an entry, then Mardi Gras, and finally found that entry for Carnival.
It certainly makes me wonder which of the participants in the Armistice got to pick the exact time of its commencement.
