I get sweaty hands and a giddy feeling just thinking about escalators, let alone using them.
I am particularly bad on the down escalator.
Does anyone else have this problem, or have any other phobias?

Stick me in with spiders and snakes and I'm fine, but not Escalators!!!!

Why Noggin? Is it from Parents? My nephew, as a bump, was nicknamed 'Spider' by my daft sister, and is still 5 years later, however she loaths s, and now he won't go anywhere near them. Just wondered if that is where we get some phobias from. My escalator phobia could be from treating a couple of Customers who had fallen up our escalator and had very severe cuts on their legs and hands. It could also be due to my "vertigo" and a balance problem. Ialso can't look up while standing on stairs, unless I'm holding the handrail.
Mixed up and ? Probably.

Not sure where it comes from; fortunately I'm only borderline phobic. There is evidence that while phobias are triggered by social conditioning, some phobias are much more readily acquired than others, so there is probably some genetic basis for them.
I know what you mean about looking up while standing on stairs or whatever; I think it's a balance problem.
