h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hallo Thingites,

a problem:
researcher wishes is each other good morning or good afternoon. but we live all over the world so there is no real cyberspace morning or eveing.

my idea:
give each 6 hours starting with dateline (-12 hours from London, UK)
- each researchert time look for the timezone her or she lives in
- the theme each 6 hours the 4 elements: air, earth, fire and water.
I do not mean the actual 4 elements, but synonyms of the words.
I want sugestions for it!

some times as examples and 4 elements:

12:00 - 18:00 "fire"
18:00 - 00:00 "water"

I am not sure if should keep it the 4 elements.
it is very nutral thing...

I don't know ... the 4 elements just seem so ... normal. Now if you come up with ridiculous names, that just might do it!

air = zeppelin
earth = patato
fire = vulcano
water = blue lagoon

something like that?

water = blue lagoon dragon

blue lagoon is cool...

I don't get the dragon = water, though.

we keep that one

fire = vulcano lovebug (lady-bird)

do you like the blue lagoon word without the dragon?

I like zappelin without the salmon

only one word might easier to remember

it need more thought

each animal is also air, earth, fire and water animal, but different

i am reminded of the clock in harry potter which has no numbers but instead, Work, Home, School, In Dire Peril and You're Late.

I like the idea pheloxi* but I do agree that there is still a semblance of normality ... something completely obscure and impossible to remember would be better ...

ok, on a food theme......

earth ; potato (cause they taste like s*** and that's what earth is
fire ; chillipepper (scotch bonnet!)
water ; grapes. (cause they make you pee if you eat too many)
air ; spouts. (obvious reasons)
