John, I like your thinking. Perhaps you should post your thoughts at the h2g2 Feedback Soapbox page? More people are likely to find it (and comment on it) there

Agreed! There must be such a section in the Guide, be it official or not.

I too think there must be a place for satire and humor.
But how should the selections be made?
An alternative exitpoint from peer-review with another set of scouts and editors, who look for political incorrectness and have their own sinbin for really serious stuff?
Maybe another peer-review with peers who are peer towards each other but not with the official humorless peers? Some peers are more peer than oher peers?
I am afraid that if DNA himself had entered selected parts of his hitchhikers series as entries, they would now immediatly be thrown into the sin-bin as completely ridiculous and not up to the standards of the guide.

Too right! Daring words but absolutely dead on.
Now aren't you glad you expressed yourself, freely.
The 'official humourless peers' phrase brought a laugh to be sure. You're right of course, they would never allow DNA to even submit. And lately, some the greeting Aces have been ..oh how should I put it ..uhm ..'selective' in their responses to newbies.
That's the trouble with systems and bureaucracies and institutions. The intent of the founders gets lost by the functionaries who follow up. Take Christianity for example. Oh, and democracy, now there's a sad case.

Ah jeez Boss, now I gotta type them A-numbers in (being a lazy beggar who expects 'real links' I usually don't go anywhere unless I can just click...) but now y'got me curious enough to make the effort. I'll probably comment on them there though cuz THIS is MY space. MINE I tells ya!

Well, I went and looked and posted at both A479973 and A344251.
Then I realised one of them was not Bossel but Biohazard and I hadn't seen that when I posted; I thought I was talking to you.
