We're back!
Willem Posted Mar 31, 2001
Oh yeah, it's a new name and a new place but the same old me. And TC, don't worry about the graph - it will be nice if you can rig something new up, but in the meantime we have this forum where we can give each other support.
We're back!
You can call me TC Posted Apr 1, 2001
Well, the entry is reactivated, but without gorilla and without graph. I am fatter than ever. Yes - I would even describe myself as fat now.
One last desperate attempt before Easter, but I have such awful back problems and the quickest and best way, as far as I can see is by doing exercises. At least the local Swimming Pool has opened up again after a huge makeover. But I look so awful in swimming cozzy, I am putting off going there.
Help!

Well, at 16 1/2 stone, I think it's time to get back in the saddle. Motivations are:
Weekend work trip to Bruge at the end of April
Holiday in Germany at beginning of June
Guns 'n' Roses concert mid June (because I want to be able to wear something with no sleeves and not be conscious of my flabby arms, as it will be very hot).
C'mon Girls [and guys] (do you believe in love, well I got something to say about it..) what's your motivation?? (Actually that Madonna tangent would be quite an inspirational tune...

Which part of Germany?

Willem Posted Apr 2, 2001
What's my motivation? Well, I just look an feel good when I don't have a lot of fat on me! I like being able to move easily, I like being able to get into my pants easily, my face looks a lot better when I'm leaner.

TIP?
Bought some Cherry Tomatoes in Tescos last night, bringing them into work for mid morning munchies, so I don't end up buying crisps.

still hanging in there, not much new to report on actual weight loss, but i have made some progress. about a month ago my doctor discovered a problem with my thyroid and is regulating it with medication, he told me that as it returns to normal i should see some weight loss, and i've already noticed i have more energy. started working out about a month ago as well and i *love* it. don't know about the weight, as i said, but i am feeling better

My only hope now is a planned trip to Bavaria the week after Easter. We'll be doing some serious walking and on top of that I will try and swim every day. And the mountain air will maybe give a bit more energy. The Rhine valley, where I live, is deathly with polluted air, hanging down in the valley, which is full of industry due to the ports being directly on the river. I have felt groggy since I got here in 1973

Willem Posted Apr 7, 2001
Yeah, pollution is a killer. I just love mountain air, and climbing mountains. That's nice exercise. Hiking and mountaineering is good exercise, but unfortunately unless you live in the mountains or in a huge wild and unspoilt area it is difficult to do it every day.

You can call me TC Posted Apr 7, 2001
Well, mountains don't do anything for me.
Give me the sea. I am insisting that we spend our summer holiday on a real sea. Not a toy sea like the Mediterranean and the Baltic, where they don't even have tides.

Willem Posted Apr 9, 2001
A sea without tides - interesting concept. I've only been in a real sea - Indian Ocean - we don't have any lakes or inland seas here.

ditto, bro.
I have now just managed to increase the amount I need to lose. Ideally that would be 20 kg. I have decided to break it down into 5 kg portions. Somebody probably already suggested that, but it's a case of finding the suggestions that suit you at the right time! Should I continue with the graph? I think I might be able to convert it to a primitive ASCII diagramm.
We're back! (we're bad, we're black, and we're mad?)
Willem Posted Apr 22, 2001
I won't mind an ASCII diagram, dunno about the others, but it's OK if we just keep posting the amounts we gain/lose here. Did nobody else lose weight? I lost another 2 pounds. I'm not really going to try and lose much more for a while, just want to maintain my weight around what it is at the moment. I'm not in bad shape, getting to the gym three days a week and getting stronger. I am eating a lot but the training seems to be burning it all up. I want to enjoy the food for a while until I get tired of eating and then I'll try and lose a bit more.

We'll have to start again, because I can't bridge the gap!
So, folks, please state your weight loss and start at 0 as from today (22 April 2001) again.

Tashalls, Muse of Flights of Fancy (Losing Weight at A858170) Posted Apr 23, 2001
Well, after a successful 13 weeks of straight weight loss (shedding about 12 kilos in the process), I have been fluctuating around the 85kg mark (for those of you who aren't metric that's about 12 stone I think).
I have lost that drive to be really strict with myself, and am overindulging - making excuses like "oh, it's so-and-so's engagement" or "It's our anniversary" or "It's the weekend" or simply "It's there"!!!
Every week I try to give myself a pep talk and get that fire in my belly going. My problem is that I feel better than before and that has made me complacent. I still have a long way to go, however. I caught sight of myself in a window while sitting in a meeting and spent the entire time thinkning "oh my god I look awful" when in fact the last couple of months I have felt really good and sexy, being able to wear clothes I have not worn in a couple of years.
*sigh*
why is it so hard for me, and so easy for my brothers and sister (who is 55kg and taller than me, and looks fabulous...)
We're back! (we're bad, we're black, and we're mad?)
Willem Posted Apr 23, 2001
Well Tashalls, losing twelve kilos is a very good achievement! If you can maintain your weight where it is for a while it will also be good, and then when you're ready to lose again you can go for another 5 kg or so, then maintain that again for a while, and so on.
Why is it hard for you and easy for your brothers and sisters? Well, people are simply different from each other.
We're back! (we're bad, we're black, and we're mad?)
Tashalls, Muse of Flights of Fancy (Losing Weight at A858170) Posted Apr 23, 2001
yes, I realise people are different, even in the same family, but it doesn't make it any easier when they don't need to stop themselves having seconds and I really shouldn't have had so much "firsts"!
And I am not meaning to be glib about my achievement so far, it is the best effort yet - I just thought that having come so far, I should be able to maintain my motivation. Alas, it does not work that way!
