Society needs true governence
and that can only be self
governence the current 'state'
is the elected body that rules the
people the true state is the body
that is the people.
The only government that can realy
be of the people not just chossen by
the people would be one that was
made up of 'cheifs' choosen by small comunites
and such like.
LET THE PEOPLE RULE THEM SELFS!

I also think the idea of small communities ruling themselves is the way to go. In a small community you will be able to actually know what kind of a person the person is who you are voting for.

Well, in practice, self-governance works, but unproductively. Some towns or communes or whatever do it. Christiana or something in danemark. But they can go to the doctors and buy stuff outside the town. in a truly self geoverned world, nothing would get done.

Governance as it is being applied in the world today is not at all effective. I think giving orders and punishing people should happen as little as possible, that's why I favour small-scale community rule. But that doesn't mean that communities will be isolated and oblivious to what's going on in the larger world. Communities should be linked, should communicate with each other, make plans and undertake enterprises together. But the one community should have no power to dominate the other. Society can be ordered and co-operative up to the very largest scale in such a model, the only restriction being that larger groupings never FORCE or PROHIBIT smaller groupings to do things. How do you get things done then? Persuasion, communication, encouragement, incentives. Convince people that something will be good for them. If it really will be good for them, convincing them of it is not going to be too hard.
We must strive for models of government that are less heavy handed and brutal than current governments. This way of rule leads to incredible levels of waste of human time and effort and produces extreme problems that will take future generation very long to solve.

I still cannot believe that you believe that humanity as it is today would agree to this. WE AS A RACE ARE ALL TOO SELFISH.
that was italics not shouting. im not angry, just mildly incredulous.

Uncle Heavy, do you speak for yourself or for everyone? Are you sure that everyone is selfish? Or is that just you?
I mean, some of us ARE lovely...

Mr K H Jordan. Totally brain washed and incapable of making sense (the BBC has done its work well) Posted Mar 22, 2001
*bursts through the door and waits for all heads to turn. when they don't he goes and tries again. after a third failed attempt he slumps into a chair*
i'll just have a coffee please. i hear you've been descusing daft punk, i was unawair this was a music site but i enjoy the topic. daft punk have done some good songs (around the world for example) and they've made some even better vidios (the one with the giant dog is truly bizzar). but they arn't the best group around. one of the best groups has to be rage against the machine, but sadly the lead singer has just left. to find trully great groups you have to go back a few years. led zepplin is my favoret band, you'll never get a song that is better than "stairway to heaven."
*leans back and hits his head on a pillar. leans foward again, rubbing his head, and puts his elbow on the counter. relises that someone has spilt coffee on the counter. stands walks to the corner to sit on a, supposedly safe, bean-bag.*

Uncle H, I did not say I think the human race as it is now will agree to such a political system. I am not even sure if such a system will work. It's just an idea I have. Face it, us guys chatting here are probably not going to have any effect on the shape of political systems whatsoever. When the systems change they will do so out of necessity, in other words, major factors have to operate in society to force them to change. I think that there are major factors currently in operation, but I cannot say whether these factors will force political systems to become better, or worse.
Basically if we humans are stupid enough to choose rotten systems, and are too lazy to do anything about it, we deserve the boolshirt that we get.
If individuals really want to make things better, they can do it on an individual level - in their personal lives, in their communities. At least in those spheres they can have some effect, and if enough people do it that way, maybe the nature of the race can change. I am not at all convinced that our selfishness is a necessary property of humans. I think it is a result of our society being as it is, teaching the values that it does. I know for a fact humans can be much less selfish and much less stupid than they usually are. If enough individuals can go against the trend in society the trend itself will change.

I cant really express my feelings right now. i do get highly dpressed at the state of the human race, tho i can concede that we have achieved positive things. Unfortunately, we are all too selfish to live in a utopia - wed grab, and punch and kick our way to the top, not caring about anyone else. it isnt eliberate necessarily, but selfishness is a primal drive against which it is difficult to fight for anyone.
And JK, i have a feeling that what ever it was you wanted me to smoke would probably not make me that much happier
And i dont want to be drawn into a debate about music, but a bland band with a singer who sounds like a deranged twelve year old skater is not my idea of good. lol
