~~I half recall a story of some kid going down into the sewers to join the turtles and the safety brigade coming out.
Didn't the van have some corny name ? I didn't realise how much they'd changed the comics for television.

So do I, back when the whole Turtle thing was at it's highest, but I couldn't find anything on the web. There is a recent story from the States about some kids playing in a sewer, but I could only find it on blogs and not from any reputable source.

Not that I know of. It's just referred to as the Turtle Van or the Party Wagon (unless that's what you were thinking of?)

A couple of tweaks if I may (this is PR-stuff, nothing to do with the Stretcher contest)
<>
Sentence is too long, it can be split thus:
From these humble beginnings, the concept took on a life of its own. The characters subsequently appeared in films, television programmes, video games, toy shops and even breakfast cereal packets.
<>
=
The black-and-white comic was financed by Eastman, using a $500 income tax refund
<>
=
five years
<> - could you change the accented word to clichéd please?
<>
I'll let you fix that to what you mean

All done. I wasn't entirely convinced the sentence you mentioned was too long, but I'd hate to rile a judge at this early stage... Anyway, I've reworked it slightly differently to how you suggested, but I hope it's OK!

Nice one!
I used to like the tv series when I was a kid and my brother and I had a board game of it that we enjoyed. In the game, I think Shredder had two henchmen that I don't remember seeing mentioned in the entry. I can't remember anything else about them so I can't judge if they're worth including or not.
"Rap music featured heavily in the film's soundtrack, with a theme song by hip hop duo and one-hit wonder,"
I'm not sure about this. My inclination is that because there were two of them, it should be 'one-hit wonders' but then again, they were a group, and therefore count as one entity.

Thanks Elentari & Beatrice

Shredder has different henchmen in practically every different incarnation of the Turtles, so I didn't think it was worth going into in that much detail.

You've got me wondering now..! I think, as there is one duo, one hit (and one wonder) that I'll stick with the singular for now, but I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise!

Nice one, Danny. I've never seen any sequel or read the comics so I can't contribute anything. Funnily enough, though, it reminds me of this:
and that's not even a turtle.

Oh Danny Boy (sorry, you must get that a lot):
What a marvelous entry! Congrats!
It really took me back. I liked the early graphic novels and the first movie best, because darker can be good; but it was all enjoyable.
I do have one suggestions, but only for footnote 5. It seems a little abstract. You add three other 'parodied' concepts, but fail to point out their relationships to the originial concepts.
You relate foot clan to hand clan, but the others seemed disconnected without additional info.
Just a thought, perhaps I missed something.

The pipes, the pipes are calling...
Good point - I was assuming far too much prior knowledge of 'Daredevil'
Rather than explain the other references, which would have made the footnote a bit large and cumbersome, I've removed them. I think it's enough to explain one reference and note that there are others.

Stellar!
One other minor point, and I'm not sure that I have this right in all instances, but I don't believe that a Sai is a dagger in any traditional sense.
These are not bladed weapons, but hexagon or octogon projections I believe. They are largely defensive weapons, but are probably often pointed enough for stabbing. I just don't know if it's correct to correlate them with daggers.
And, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a TMNT ever stab anybody with any weapon.
That's what I get for going back and re-reading.
