Thanks to Linus for this onesmiley - smiley

This is probably the best of Australias exports.

This beer is light and smooth. It's bottle conditioned so when you pour it you need to be careful that you don't pour the yeast into the glass aswell. Another side of it being bottle conditioned is that a lot of the carbon dioxide is absorded into the beer, giving it the effect of a tingle on your tongue as you drink it, probably why they called it sparkling.

Colour is light amber, no sustained head. The aroma is a blend of hops and carbon dioxide, but a really nice blend. The initial taste after the tingle is of a gently hop / malt balance that gives way to an increased hoppy aftertaste.

All in all, lovely.

Oh, and it's 5.8%, but drinks so easily that you'd be forgiven for thinking it was around the 4.5% mark.

In my office 'sludge' is the product of the coffee machine. For some reason, our customer from the sewage machinery manufacturing industry is less than keen to partake smiley - smiley

Both the Waitrose and the Safeway chain of supermarkets now stock Coopers Sparkling on a regular basissmiley - smiley The downside is that the nearest Safeway to me is 13 miles away and the nearest Waitrose is 20 miles awaysmiley - sadface But, on the plus side, the wife works five minutes down the road from said Waitrose, and can bring it home with hersmiley - bigeyes

Currently they only stock the Sparkling, but they both might be getting the Dark in soonsmiley - smiley
