OO
(Excuse me butting in, Math - but there's room for two... )
>>does your group do nude worship then? I understand some alternative religion groups do.<<
Only the naturist druids go nude ...
And the heathens are too far north to have a tradition of nudity
Jez - fully-clothed and costumed for ritual (a rather fetching saxon gown and wrap, a LOT of hanging jewellery and a five foot birchwood staff).

Yeah.... I've heard tell about these nude get togethers..
There's a big forest near me and I'm hoping they'll do a meeting round here. Great way to be at one with nature.
I'll tell you I've seen all states of undress in the wooods but I've never witnessed one of these extravaganzas. Must be the zenith of prime-anvil spirituality..wow what a hedonistic way to celebrate next spring!

I have heard of someone (sorry, I have no idea who) who said that God might be found by means of, and was inherent in mathematics... It might have been an astronomer... Interesting, nicht war?

He did? Oetzi, do you know what DNA said about compound interest in the 'Hitchhiker's Guide' - specifically 'Restaurant at the End of the Universe'?

Mind you I'd still worry about causing offence by laughing in the wrong place etc. Comes from being brought up an Anglican, a church where manners are more important than beliefs I suppose .

>>a church where manners are more important than beliefs I suppose<<
As an Anglican by choice, Blackberry, I would tend to disagree with that comment - though I admit it depends on the church. There's at least one Anglican church where your assertion about manners would be true, sadly.

If my upbringing hadn't prejudiced me I'd probably agree with you. In England the Anglican church was long known as the Consrvative Party at Prayer and when I moved to Scotland the Episcopalians were even worse.

Yes, too true - so the wiccans (they are the ones who go skyclad) do their stuff indoors - they claim that the magic they raise is impeded by clothes, but then put a wall around their circle - never have worked out that one. And yes, I have been to a wiccan ritual - or two - but I am now a saggy middle-aged heathen and my witchery is done in a nice warm woolly cloak...
Jez heathen and non-wiccan witch.

I've been in three Angliucan churches (whilst at the same time attending the Salvation Army, Open Brethren and occasional others. It's known as church hopping, and caused by moving towns and looking to settle down. One and a half Anglican churches were droning bores who didn't take it at all seroously. The other one and a half were brilliant!
The Open Brethren we attended on alternate weeks were brilliant in their own way, but too conservative politically, and socially. In NZ the Anglican church is sharply divided - it's probably one quarter Tory and 3 quarters raging radical. The Tory part is mostly in the suburbs or small country towns. The second Anglican church I went to (9 yeras after the first and when I had well forgotten the first) was superb. Politically 'left' but serious about everything they believed! But then we shifted towns...

LOL!
Your conundrum isn't one I normally bother about, Jordan. I realise its possibilities, but can see no practical use in finding a solution.
In addition, I feel that, if your conundrum is valid, it is equally valid that: each of the Abrahamic faiths apparently worships a God who either is unaware of the other two faiths and what they say about Him which contradicts the later revelations of His Truth, or unable or unwilling to correct them. Unless, of course, the Jews, Christians and Muslims actually worship different Gods? So what is the answer to that conumdrum?

Matholwch - Brythonic Tribal Polytheist Posted Nov 25, 2003
Hi Oetzi ,
Nude? Me? I'd look like a Gorilla trying to wear elephant skin pyjamas!
No, like many druids of my acquaintance I wear hiking boots (sometimes wellies if it's been particularly wet), T-shirt, Jeans, and a Fleece. I also tend to carry a decorated five foot oaken staff and wear a broad-brimmed hat. Many people like to wear nice thick cloaks. Those leading our celebrations occasionally wear robes over their clothes.
I can assure you that since many of our celebrations are at dawn, even in the British Summer, nudity would be fairly foolhardy and us druids are very practical people.
Our gods and the spirits of the land and of our ancestors are far more interested in what is in our minds and our hearts than what we cover our skins with (or not). All the high mummery of the Anglican and Catholic churches just make me want to laugh out loud, as do quite a few over-dressed wiccans it must be said .
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

Thanks for the info Malt.
Excuse my purile interest in naked rituals. Your beliefs sound fascinating. I reckon they must be at least 5 to 50k old.
