a single light shines out into the night from a tiny window at the very top of a short tower. the light is very bright, as it is being produced by a single 150 watt bulb, which is promptly shot out by a stone from a slingshot. the stone, after knocking out the light continues to sail out the high window on a slight arc back downward. it bounces off a large toad sitting on the castle lawn before coming to rest a short distance away next to a hamster burrow. the toad, stunned, falls over (insofar as it is possible for a toad to fall from a sitting position).
back to the tower.
the tower, now aglow with eerie candlelight (also visible by the tiny window at the top), is located directly above the castle dungeons, albeit by several stories. if you took a power drill with a really really long bit and started drilling in the north-east corner of the main floor of the tower you would eventually drill right through evil one's left foot where he is chained to the wall in the dungeon. the bit would, of course, have to be several hundred feet long.
at the base of the tower is a set of tall wooden double doors that open to the castle lawn, near where the toad has fallen. the doors are closed, but if you went up to them and opened them you would see a dimly lit circular room with another set of wooden double doors just opposite that let into the rest of the castle. the light is coming from the dozens of candles along the staircase that climbs up along the outside wall of the tower. the stairs go all the way to the top of the tower, where there is a platform under the tiny window. a chilly breeze comes in the window, causing the candles near the top of the staircase to flicker. you would also see princess broelan in preparations to open the dna memorial spider sanctuary; making sure there are enough nooks and crannies for the spiders to hide in, making sure there are enough places to spin webs, making sure the rafters are sufficient to drop from.
the door on the left slowly opens with a soft creak ('must get that fixed' mutters broelan, 't'aint loud enough') and the princess steps out, stomping the dust off her dingy 
slippers. she steps up to the door on the right and begins to affix a hand lettered sign to the door:
dna memorial spider sanctuary
spiders of all kinds welcome
open to the public
monday, wednesday, friday
and every other odd sunday afternoon
OPENING SOON
cobwebs needed. inquire within.
the princess disappears behind the door again, trailing a few cobwebs that are caught in her skirts.

the toad, awoken by the soft creaking and gentle slamming of the tower door, rights itself, shakes it off, and hops away toward the crocodile pit, where he is ingested shortly thereafter.

i'd be a little careful of fang over there, he's a little temperamental, and fuzz just finished a double shift down in the dungeon, so she's a bit tired.

*inky's little orange guy scuttles off into the shadows and meets buster, a huge black spider, who is startled by the little guy and quickly climbs a thread up into the rafters*
does he have a name, inky?
