As per your suggestion mother, I am starting to give the stuff that I am doing proper write ups here.
Firstly, I am trying to find out exactly what type of person a mage has to have in order to be a good one.
Also there is research going on into the technology of applied wombling to see if we can get it documented.
Because of the comment you made re the having to think about the site, I have written a site philosophy page to try and make the reasons for things a little clearer.
Any things that are spotted to be logically missing I would like to be told about, as well as any mistakes that you spot, or the reason for any problems you have with the site.
I think that this is now big enough for a single days new work, so as I get more stuff written up and better defined, I will try and add the page links for the new stuff on here as soon as possible.

It looks like I have made a mess of my site. Although the bits of it interlink well, the whole thing doesn't interlink at all. This I intend to fix.
Please be patient as I am also nursing a freind who has just come out off hospital, and have just been made in charge of a big bit of an astronomy club.

I have re read the site philosophy page of my site, and found it seriously in need of work. This has now been done, so you might want to take another look at it at http://www.xyroth-enterprises.co.uk/sitephil.htm and in the mean time I am trying to sort out the mess of the structure of the rest of the site, but that will take me some time. Thanks mother for pointing out the problems, and keep up the good work.

I thought that point number 1 was the most important myself, having seen too many flashy, bloated sites that basically just say "hello, I am me", with no other content.

I just uploaded the cleaned up site yesterday, so it may be worth another look. Also, if the astronomy society I am programme secretary for manages to last past december, I seem to have been volunteered to host the club website as well. busy, busy, busy.

Due too a piece of technology whaich a freind and I have developed recently, there is now a site index which will at least let you see which bits you have visited and which you haven't. As this technology is currently well pre-release, if you spot any bugs in it, then please let me know by email so that I can get them fixed.

YAY for Beowulf and the Archmages!!! ... the index is thus far the best thing you have done...
You might want to subdivide your index to guide surfers: "Please see my "SITE PHILOSOPHY" if you are anal-retentive", etc...

I guess you didn't read the site index page then. It says there that there that it is pre-release experimental software that is auto-generated so that you can see if you have missed any pages that you may want to read. The point is that it gets EVERY page on your site, and provides a comprehensive index of all of the stuff that you have written about. We are also trying to get it so that we can have a dated index, so that you can see which stuff has been done most recently, and thus what new stuff to look at first. considering that the program didn't even exist 1 month ago, I don't think that we are doing too bad getting it this far by now, while still doing lots of other stuff at the same time.

Even better, thnks to a program that we wrote the other day, the general mess that was my linux area is now at least reasonable again.
Plenty ??? of time for more new stuff then
It is also posible that we may be able to get aour site checking program to automatically generate a graphical map of your site, so you can see just what a mess the structure is in. (it's how I corrected mine).
At the moment, it just checks that you haven't linked to anything in your site that isn't there, or that you don't have anything there that isn't linked too. It will then let you draw a map of the structure of your site, with the linking viewable, using just that information. You do have to manually move the different pages of your site about the map to get it clear at the moment though. We call it the sense program, cos it tries to make sure that our sites make sense!

Due to a slight peice of medicinal poisoning, I have not been up to doing any research for the last few weeks, but now that it is gradually washing out of my system, I hope to get the research back on track. sorry for being quiet for too long, but in the mean time, the other staff at http://www.zyra.org.uk (zyra's site) have been keeping up the research there, and keeping their site well up to date.
