OK I'll scout as I know where a lot of it is already as I build a fair bit. What do you need me to do?

I'll brief the sepearate teams when we have enough people...
If you could, as your first task, maybe tell other people about this Project, that would be a great help!
Thanks!

I volunteer to map (on an "I've started so I'll finish" sort of basis).
BTW should the "scouts" be given another name in order to avoid confusion with the Peer Review Scouts who have official woggles to play with?

Talking of art, Sporky, Anhedria, whatever you're calling yourself (I preferred Sporky), caould I use some of your creations in my Dynamic Gallery? I like the one hanging in Lil's gallery.

Hi Big C,
I would like to be a scout (or how it will be named in the future) - maybe I could go round the german Community as I know some people there and look after places to map among them?

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Aug 26, 2000
Welcome on board, Kasia. I think your plan will be very useful. There is quite a following for the German version of Half-Life, so I'm told.

Why am I failing to understand anything anyone says to me today? Is it just 'one of those days'? Loony, Sporky what are you trying to say?

Chris Tonks Posted Aug 27, 2000
Blimey! A few hours, and loads of applicants!
1) I thank you for applying to help me in this Project.
2) Please, and this is just for my benefit of not having to read al the messages, could you refrain from discussing things here...this is just for applications...
3) I will certainly look at this radio broadcast of yours, and would be very interested in any way you could promote the Project with that service.

Hello? Anyone around?
I'd like to help with this, if I've got time. I love making 3D models and game levels, but I haven't done any recently - I made loads of really cool Quake levels but then everyone started playing Half-Life instead and my levels were neglected
I can guarantee quality but I'll have to teach myself how to make Half-Life levels first.
Big C, can I suggest that you/we use one of those 3D program jobbies that make a level that can then be imported into *any* 3D game? That way we can keep up with the industry's new game engines, and keep the whole thing up to date.
One day somebody will make a decent engine that isn't based around running round killing each other (although I find that as fun as the next man) so that we can use the 3D world as a real online social meeting place, with chat and stuff. If we can make a 3D world that would be compatible with something like that in the future, it would be extremely funky.
I apologise for all the dated nouns like 'funky' that I'm using today but I've just been watching 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure'. Terrific!

I know just what you mean with a proper 3D virtual world...I've dreamt of one for years!
Well, welcome to the Team!
I use WorldCraft 3.3, which is strictly for Half-Life, but with a few modifications, its .map files can work with most things...

Peregrin Posted Sep 2, 2000
I used Worldcraft for making Quake levels, version one if I remember correctly. I think it's compatible with a lot of stuff, I'll download WC 3.3 sometime. Is it free?

Yep...
Although you'll need a graphics card which supports OpenGL...Direct3D on its own won't work with the new 3D window...

Peregrin Posted Sep 3, 2000
Cheers, I'll download it. My housemate's got a copy of the original Half-Life, which I'll nick.
OpenGL... well I've got a 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 AGP card which performs the task very nicely
Which is fortunate because my computer wouldn't be able to play Half-Life in anything better than a 320x240 window otherwise
