What are we going to do with this club? Organise an evening and invite the Twotels? Inviting George Martin for a lecture? Scrable the White Album for yet unheard hidden messages?

Michael Posted Aug 13, 2005
If you want to I was thinking of Sgt peppers for the hidden messages, bet those conspiracy theorists missed a load out.

Wasnt it supposed to be saying paul was dead? even though he never chagned at all

NPY Posted Aug 14, 2005
Well I never figured out why people would play their records backwards. But apparently loads have these "hidden messages" on them. All I have to say is - yeah right!
Well that was a good question. What are we going to to with this club?

There was a time when I found it quite exciting to sort out these 'Paul-is-dead'clues, but I never took it serious.
There's still some news coming and going about the Let it Be-DVD that could arrive next month (but 'sources' have said that for the last year or so).

Did the beatles leave messages in their songs or not??

Tony2Times/Prof. Chaos Posted Aug 15, 2005
I don't think The Beatles did, but in an early '90s album Macca played around with the dead theory and put, either in whispers or backwards, a recipe to make some food and finished it with "oh by the way, I'm not dead" or "I'm alive" - he does have a sense of humour
I can't understand why everyone said Live 8 was Macca's first live performance of Sgt. Pepper's. I have seen him perform it somewhere else, both parts of the song with a guitar bridge in the middle. I think they should have ended Live 8 on it as well, as if the show was one long concept album. Also think they shoulda tried to say "Sir Effin Bob told some bands to play" or something instead of "Sgt. Pepper told the band to play"
Shouldn't we have this convo outside the joining up thread?

->Boxing Baboon; they left a lot of messages in their songs, especially in the '66-'67-period, most of them on purpose (like the dog-whistle on Sgt. Peppers, the references to other songs in Glass Onion). These messages didn't have any purpose, although some thought they were references to the demise of mr. McCartney and other more disturbed individuals (Charles Manson) were influenced in other ways.

Yes we should have this convo in a different thread.

NPY Posted Aug 16, 2005
Yeah. Might be easier for new members.
Think there are already a couple of threads going anyway.

Well, just being in this club is fine and I'm more than happy discussing anything vaguely Beatlish. My knowledge of the band is reasonably good, but there still are some blanks and riddles.
One of them is this: is that really a bass-solo on Michelle?

Just been listening to the white album over that past few days .I have to say the first disc is mucn better than the 2nd.

->Boxingbaboon-I agree...the first disc has fine rock and beautiful folksy ballads...disc two has more artsy statements (Rev.#9, Savoy Truffle) and I personally think Helster Skelter is noisy, but also a bit overestimated...

Notpanicing->It's in Ian McDonalds 'Revolution of the Mind'...it could be a bass solo a little sped up. The Beatles were swapping instruments constantly (starting in '65) and searching for new sounds...
