A Conversation for The H2IQ Quiz - Be The First Among Equals
Nearly There - See?
Beatrice Posted Apr 2, 2004
Well, as Feisor says he cant set one due to w*rk reasons, here's a quick and easy one.
There are currently 15 EU member states, with 10 about to join.
There are 3 main languages in use in the EU. In addition, each country is allowed to call itself by its name in its own language.
Only one country out of the 25 has the same name in each of the 4 languages - name that country.
Nearly There - See?

Seeing as I've already got one going on the 'A New Day' thread and seeing as I'm all poped out, can I plead work commitments too and declare a footrace? Completely out of ideas and don't want to trigger another three week hiatus.
So - first one with a good idea: go!
Doppelgangers

Thanks Trin - some good quizzes recently.
OK, this is an original and slightly confusing quiz. You have to identify 20 pop artists from their "doppelganger" namesakes.
It's a two-stage process:
Stage 1: Identify two well-known celebrities. Celebrity 1 shares the Doppelganger's first name, and Celebrity 2 shares the Doppelganger's surname. Both celebrities are loosely in the same field (films, sport, politics, C-list celebs, etc).
Stage 2: Combine Celebrity 2's first name with Celebrity 1's surname to get the TOTP artist. Simple!
I'm sure you didn't understand any of that, so here's an example:
Q. "Jonathan Spencer"
A. Celebrity 1 is Jonathan *Ross*, Celebrity 2 is *Diana* Spencer, so the answer is *Diana* *Ross*.
One further hint: spelling is not important - use any similar-sounding names.
First to post all twenty correct is the winner.
On to the quiz:

Bad luck! 19/20
Do you want to try #6 again?
p.s. I've no idea who Julie Anderson & Ian Curtis are!

Trin Tragula Posted Apr 5, 2004
No, I wasn't a hundred percent about that one. Ian Curtis the lead singer of Joy Division, no? But Julie Anderson is a not terrifically well-known so-called supermodel...
And, frankly, I rather suspected that wasn't your style Icy!
Thinking cap on then...

Trin Tragula Posted Apr 5, 2004
Well, in that case, it must be
Julie (Christie) and (Tony) Curtis = Tony Christie

Trin Tragula Posted Apr 5, 2004
All right, then, thinking cap still on
(Won't be as much fun as that one!)
Another Filler
Icy North Posted Apr 14, 2004
While Trin compiles the quiz to end all quizzes, here's another filler quiz:
Place the following words in the logical order (hint: two of them are interchangeable)
pump, opt, set, fire, inn, pet, due

Another Filler
Icy North Posted May 4, 2004
Hi Mr Whale,
It's one of those things you might spot straight away.
It's a fairly limited set. I could have added the word "twee" to the list, and this would be interchangeable with one of the other words.

And now it's been a month, and still no-one's spotted it.
Is it something to do with symmetry?
