(If it were a snowman melting - why was it in the middle of the road? Ho did it get there? they usually don't move on their own and aren't usually made in the middle of the road where they can be run over)

someone wandered into the field carrying a scarf, a carrot, and some sticks was it?
anyway, they got really tired, and couldn't be bothered to carry them any more so they left them there. asnd wandered out of the field again.

What has happened?
Well, there's probably a very angry farmer jumping around because some fiend has burned his crop down using coal as the initial fuel. All he has to go on for forensic evidence is the remains of the culprit's pack lunch and their neck attire.

A dinosaur died in the field. 65 million years later, its body had turned to coal. Seeing the coal and mistaking it for fertilizer, a passing farmer decided that the field would be a good place to plant a carrot. The scarf was placed there to keep the carrot warm during the approaching winter.

santa has just stopped by to give s to the local rabbit family, leaving the carrot there, also the scarf so that their den will be more comfy. some of the coal he gives to naughty children fell out the back of the sleigh.
