Frederick Treves the actor played a character called Brotodac in Dr Who - an anagram of "bad actor"
I'd hoped he played the Brigadier, but sadly, I was wrong....

but he played The Brig in The Cazalets!
Did jwf not already say that?

The Holy Coat of Treves is the seamless coat that Jesus wore. Is that the St Johns gospel bit?
so to summarise:
The Brig - plaved by Frederick Treves in the Cazalets
Bag head - the elephant man, written by Sir Frederick Treves
insolvent insurers - Equitable boss Vanni Treves
St Johns Gospel - the Holy Coat of Treves
Do I win a prize???

Your question next, Luckystar! (I reckon you've got most of this, and you contributed all the key ideas)
To summarise :
TREVES is the connection (various pronounciations) :
Frederick TREVES (actor) played "The Brig" in The Cazalets (BBC, 2002)
- as Luckystar pointed out
TREVES (or Trier) was the place of origin and the long-time repository of a venerated version of the Book of Revelations (said to be the earliest illustrated one), known as the Treves Apocalypse : hence St John etc.
- Luckystar mentioned the town
Vanni TREVES was brought in as new Chairman to sort out the wreck of Equitable Life in 2001 : hence the Insurer
- as Luckystar pointed out
Sir Frederick TREVES (MD) was the accidental biographer and companion to the unfortunate John Merrick, aka the Elephant Man : hence Bag-Head
- Luckystar first mentioned the Elephant Man
....Phew....I'm glad that's over!
(Where's Mycroft when you need him!)

Hi Luckystar
Simulpost!
As you see, you're up next - undoubtedly so with your correct summing-up just back there.
(I didn't know about the Coat of St John specifically, though the place bristles with Relics. I'll go look that up!)
See ya

The last words of Oscar Wilde were, "Either this wallpaper goes or I do!"
But don't think you've heard the last of me.

Bartle and Trubshaw first developed Multi-User Dungeons (or MUDs)
Blurry is a song by Puddle of Mudd
Mud looks promising...but can't find the Quantum Leap connection.

um...nobody's going to care about something that happened a couple of leds ago, but when i said i had nothing to say, it had absolutely nothing to do with anything. i just didn't have anything to say, except to say that i didn't have anything to say, so i said it.
again, i have nothing to say.

Dr Sam Beckett said "Oh boy" pretty often in QL, so these were probably the last words of the last episode?
But "Oh boy" was also a single by Mud (c.1973-ish?). They apparently all wore yellow teddy-boy outfits, or so an elderly relative tells me. They had a better-known hit with "Tiger Feet", which I'm going to pretend that I don't remember either...
...should have pleaded the 5th, shouldn't I? Like Clelba or the Worldcom guys...
