Eek! A fish war could get messy. I vote against it.

Excuse the naivite of a rookie-type,but how do we attack a post? Can someone PLEASE explain...I've been staring at spoons all day to see if i have psychic powers,so I could just know it by reading minds, but all I've got is a migrane and my mother worried about me...

As a fellow rookie I would also like to ask that question...
Does it involve the infamous fish?

Well, it used to, but I think we are all sick of that type of battle now. Now, to attack a forum, just post a reply that continues the story, but in our favour. But there are some rules of ettiquette:
1) Don't speak for somebody else or make their character do things without their permission. This means that it is not okay to say something like: "I fired the laser at Bob and blew off his left leg" (Bob might seriously object). However, it would be okay to say: "I fired the laser at Bob" and leave it at that. Then Bob has the opportunity to do something about it (he may even choose to say that his left leg was blown off and bionically replaced).
2) Try to follow the laws of continuity. Here is a page that describes it:
http://www.h2g2.com/A351866
The main idea is that things that you invent in your posts have to be logically accounted for.
3) Read the other posts in the thread. That way you won't contradict something that has already happened and you will get a good feeling for the sorts of posts that are welcomed.
4) Don't take it too seriously. It's all for fun. Go ahead and be outrageous, but do so within the above rules.
Don't worry. It's not hard at all. You have been doing fine already, Inkwash. And I hope to read some posts from you soon, Mac.

All well and good.
Mac's helping me and Uncle Heavy out in London.
(so how come I'm back at CHOPPER HQ?)

Just to let you know, BBW is my alter ego. And KL is Affy's alter ego.
Oh, which London?

*ominous laughter*
you'll never get away with it...
GL, apologies for making your character "look" confused and smile and stuff... but those things don't seem to be terrible continuity offenses to me... feel free to tell me to stop.

No problem, Sea. I don't actually recall you doing anything like that, so it couldn't have been serious
A couple of other guidelines that I forgot to include above (not rules, as such, but they make it more fun)
1) Try not to be omnipotent. It's no fun battling against someone who can't be touched.
2) If there is a problem to solve in a thread, try not to do it in one post. Let others contribute too. For example, someone has planted a bomb. You hatch a cool plan where if you do A, then B, then C, the bomb will be disarmed. Now you could make a post that says you do A, B and C. But then the bomb problem is gone and the others on the thread have to think up some new problem to solve. So instead, just post that you do A. Then others will post and you may or may not be able to do B and C later. Often it ends up that the other posts give you better ideas, or they take your A idea somewhere that you hadn't thought of and which turns out to be much better than your original B and C. It's the give-and-take of the shifting storyline that's the fun part and gets your creative juices going.

Hey, don't make fun of other people's alternate personas, Sea the soeasilyamused, evillene the invisible woman, Angel the goody-two-shoes, and possibly a few others that you've kept secret.
Sorry, I shouldn't say stuff like that. What with KL. But I've got good reasons for *his* persona.

soeasilyamused, or sea Posted Jan 24, 2001
*sea grins*
[sea] you neglected to mention HITPERSON. and i never said it was BAD for him to have an alternate persona... just the mental picture of him being a *shudder* chippendale... is bad. besides, i'm just teasing him. that was what the winky is supposed to mean. geez... pretty soon, i'm going to have to start using and tags in my posts. and anyways, you're mistaken. angel's not a good guy anymore. i tried to kill him, and ended up forcing him to swear that he'd become evil again.
*sea grins wider*
[sea] and yes, there ARE others that i've kept secret.
