Ecclestone's quit!
Kerr_Avon - hunting stray apostrophes and gutting poorly parsed sentences Posted Apr 1, 2005
I know exactly how hard teachers work during term time, my mother was a teacher. That doesn't change the fact that you then get nice breaks. Bit like an actor really

Wouldn't be sensitive enough to take any notice if they did.

Wow, I'm gob smacked. Help wheres me anorack. That sounds correct, thanks for the info Hoo.
PS Can any one remember a show called "The Flipside of Domonic Hide"? I seem to remember it was a one off special with a later follow up show.
Something to do with a time traveller being his own ancestor? Very Dr Who'ish.
Any thought anyone, lets see how geekish we can all be.

The Flipside of Dominic Hyde was a play for the day from the early 80's.I think it had peter Firth and Pippa Guard.
There was a sequel which was kind of crap and you could get a twin pack video in the 90's but i remember a fuss being made a few years back when the Beeb had to have an enquiry 'cos it turned out they'd deleted it.
Not something the Beeb ever gets caught doing!
Exactly how geeky does remembering all this make me?

Turns out they didn't delete it, because they're both out on DVD soon.

Flipside was in MVC in a double DVD package. Looked pretty cool, in a naffish sort of way.
Everyone knows that teachers need holidays to regain their dodgy sanity.

I would also like to add my voice to those who think it's a damn pity that Chris has quit Doctor Who already

richeystrachan Posted Apr 3, 2005
I agree about Chris leaving being a shame - I wouldn't have expected him to stay for any great length of time, but it would have been nice for him to stay for at least one more series, just to give the relaunched show a chance to consolidate itself. I can't help feeling all the publicity about him leaving is overshadowing the new series before it's even got properly going.

Yes it's a shame he's off but lets face it we always pitch a fit when a Dr leaves and in the end unless they cast someone awful we'll all accept the new one.
From the beeb's point of view all these announcements/debates are keeping the show in the news and helping get people interested.
Lets face it you can't buy that kind of publicity.

With or without Ecclestone, isn't this the best piece of television in years. I can't remember the last time I looked forward to Saturday night television. Fantastic!

The official reason was, I understand, "he doesn't want to be time-cast".
Sorry, type-cast.

Will Tennant be the next Doctor? Seems kind of a foregone conclusion, but after watching the live Quatermass on BBC4 the other day, I thought Jason Flemyng would make a very good replacement. But if Tennant is definitely the replacement, will he keep his Scottish accent?
Will Billie Piper spoil it?
Jemstone Posted Apr 6, 2005
I think David Tennant would be great as the Dr. I didn't see Quatermass - in fact I didn't know David Tennant had a Scottish accent! It didn't notice it in Casanova, so he could do an English accent if he did become the next Dr Who and that's what they wanted. I guess we'll have to keep watching the website to wait for confirmation of the new appointment.

Hasn't it been wonderful?
I have really enjoyed it, especially watching with my teenagers, who have never seen it before, and so they're seeing all this for the first time! Sad that Christopher Ecclestone won't be joining is next series, as he's very nice.. Hmm not sure about that lovely Mr Tennant though, I thought the Dr would be taller...

<< I thought the Dr would be taller...>>
Yes, judging by pictures I have seen, Mr Tennant does seem to be a wee bit wee...
