Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Started conversation Jul 16, 2000
Oh yes. Baldrick the Briber. I have the tapes http://www.h2g2.com/F4241?thread=65050 [N.B. The "gifts" offered by my esteemed employer are not bribes.]

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
And note how the Celery resisted the attempts to get him to bribe a voter. http://www.h2g2.com/F44441?thread=64570 In fact, it now looks at an attempt at entrapment by a worker from a rival candidate. Pierrot: Aaaawwwwk, dirty tricks

No, at the time I was a floating voter. I have chosen to support the best candidate (Peregrin) because
(a) he's virtually real or really virtual as opposed to virtually virtual
and
(b) his campaign statement is just heaps better than anyone else's.
VOTE PEREGRIN! Why not?

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
And I just noticed one of the posts in that conversation. Amy the Ant says:
"Doesn't believe in buying votes? I've had a better offer."
Since she now works for Perigrin, it seems obvious who else is bribing voters around here.
Pierrot: Aaaawwwwwk, Hoisted on her own petard.

The lamppost was a gift!

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
From someone trying to curry favours? Seems to have done the trick. A gift in return for a vote. Hmmmm. Sure sounds like my definition of bribery.
Pierrot: Aaaawwwwk, how many feet can fit in that mouth?

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jul 16, 2000
Ah ha! Shows how much you know. He washed the curry off first.
And what I can do to pigeons and can do to parrots. Remember that.

Pierrot: Aaaaaawwwwk, Bribes and threats. What's next?
*Pierrot flys off in search of the baby Pangolin at Crater Labs*

Now see here! Please stop threatening the h2g2 creations and taking it so lightly! I can't help it if you might be a speceisist (I'd find it odd if that were the case, you being an ant), but please, leave the parrot alone.

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jul 16, 2000
I haven't touched the parrot ... yet.

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 16, 2000
Don't worry Affy. Pierrot can take care of himself. He just went to get the baby Pangolin (anteater). That is why AA had that wide-eyed look. Oh, look. Here he comes now.
Pierrot: Aaaaawwwwwk, sleeping.

An ant who doesn't know what a pangolin is is a candidate for the latest Darwin Award!

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Jul 16, 2000
I forgot I was an ant! That's the problem with this pan-galactic multi-dimensional modern living.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Jul 16, 2000
LOL!
I understand. Now I need to take this baby pangolin back to the woods. No way can I handle another pet, especially one with this kind of diet.
*cradles baby pangolin, which is still excited by its first aerial journey, and exits thread*

*breathes sigh of relief*
Looked a nice sort of pangolin though ...

Did I mention that anyone is invited in my new Casino. At the first week the drinks are for free.
Maybe I will hand out some free chips as well.
(I will do anything to get votes, and I am not ashamed of some bribary)

Garius Lupus Posted Jul 17, 2000
Well, so far, we have Baldrick, Peregrin and Don Alfredo using bribery to get votes. Why does the image of Richard Nixon keep poping into my mind?
Of course, The Celery has expressly refused to use bribery, even when it was solicited from him.
Pierrot (in a high-pitched Nixon immitation): Aaaaaawwwwwk, I'm not a crook.

Peregrin Posted Jul 20, 2000
Well, who's going to vote for a candidate that promises nothing in return? Sounds rather boring and conventional to me.
