We would like some graphics for the lovely campsite, which has been running for about 3 years now. Maybe a pic of the campsite or campfire or something - we're open to ideas!

While not saying you shouldn't have a graphic, there are already quite a lot of camping ones:

B504721
B1194828
B2312936 + B2312939

Of course SEF isn't saying you shouldn't have a graphic, Frankie; as she is not a CA, she's not in the decision-making process.
I see your group is a registered member of the community, and that's quite a membership list you've got there! One of us will be getting with you shortly to discuss your needs!

So Lil, are you going to explain why you didn't post on Spook's Spaced Out Guide proposal telling off all the non-CAs there *including* staff and your friends, or are you going to admit that this is a public forum in which *anyone* can suggest why a graphic might or might not be a priority? You really are demonstrating what a nasty, double-standards person you can be.

I don't think this is quite the place to discuss this.

SEF, could you refrain from attacking me here on this application thread? Attack me somewhere else; you can launch a thread on my personal space if you'd like.
My intention was to reassure Frankie that he ~is~ eligible for a graphic and that your post was unofficial.

SEF Posted Sep 30, 2003
Exactly, Lil should never have suggested that certain people couldn't comment on whether or not a graphic should be a priority when quite clearly other people had been.

Hi Frankie,
I'll be doing your logo for you. Have you got any exact ideas as to what you might like in your graphic? Just to help me along, some questions if you have any views on them.
Do you want a banner or a logo for your club?
Do you want the logo to be made up of text, a picture or both?
Do you want a members' badge? If so what text?
Any particlular colours or things you want in the graphic?
Thanks for the help. Just wondering whether you had any opinions on the above.

I'm not really here Posted Sep 30, 2003
Hey Frankie,
Remember to read the page, don't make Wotchit do all the hard work.
As SEF says, there seem to be a number of camping picture already (although I haven't looked at any on the list that was given), so something really unique, to make this activity *really* stand out would be nice. Not that I'm commenting in an 'official' capacity here, but I'd like to make sure that this scheme really takes off as so much hard work was put into it. And hopefully still will be!
Good luck!
PS - if it's impossible to be 'really' unique, try very instead.

Hi all. Don't sweat SEF and Lil, it was a good point that there are already campsite pics, and SEF did qualify.
I thought the campsite would be good for receiving some community art because it's a well established community forum, being three years old, and having been run by three different members of the community (Abi, me then Evangeline).
There was also a discussion AGES ago about having some art work done (we were going to use the Post). One of the ideas that came up then was a kind of map, which could then be inserted as a clickable imagemap, leading to the different pages and threads.
Here are some of the features of the campsite. I will invite people from the campsite to comment:
- Hotdog Stand
- Milliway Resteraunt
- Noticeboard
- Toilet Block (A655922)
- Camp Shop (A656930)
- Fishing Pond
- The tents, including:
* a yurt
* a tipi
* Medical tent
* tent up a tree
* underwater tent
* snowman's tent (with cooling system)
- Campfire
Obviously, not all these can be included, but might give some ideas...

If you are collecting images like that for various pages, perhaps you haven't seen these: <./>B859332</.> and <./>B859429</.> (they are a bit more festival/fair oriented though).

Thanks Frankie, but do you still want to answer whether a banner or a logo, as you see on the Requests page these are the two permitted dimensions. Do you also want a badge? Text as well in the graphic? Don't want to nag, but before I start work I'd like to know exactly what you mean.

Hello, everyone.
Frankie Roberto, thanks for submitting the Campsite for graphics. Good to see you around. What kind of graphics do you have in mind: a map, pictures of the more outrageous types of tents/pitches, and or a logo?
Sef, thanks for pointing out the various camping related graphics that already exist. I wasn't aware of a couple of them. Still, it would be nice to have something specific to the Campsite, as it is a club.
Lil, and Mina, your reassurance and suggestions are appreciated.
Wotchit, can I buy you an at the Alfresco Pub while this is being sorted?

Hello there,
Constructive feedback is always welcome but unwarranted personal criticism will not be tolerated on h2g2.
We do not object to people commenting on how the system works, but will absolutely not accept Researchers baiting other Researchers with statements such as 'You really are demonstrating what a nasty, double-standards person you can be.'
Please refrain from this sort of behaviour.

People, including the staff, should indeed refrain from having blatant double-standards.

Any progress on the ideas front? It's the weekend so I've got time to work. If you want I'll just launch into the process and use my own ideas. Of course, if you don't like them you can always say so .

Hi Evangeline. I don't really have a clear idea of what we want/need. What do you think? I think the map idea would be great if it could be done, but otherwise the banner would be good.
A badge might be cool too - something along the lines of 'I've pitched my tent at the Campsite' with a pic of a tent?

I'll take that as a 'go ahead' then . I've got a few ideas so when I'm done I'll say and you can tell me whether they're any good.
I'll try to get them done as soon as possible, but you may have to wait until the weekend .

Frankie Roberto,
I don't know if a map would work. I would be willing to make a Campsite Tour "brochure" sort of entry. A couple of graphics of the more unique sorts of pitches(tipi, yurt, pitch in a tree...) would be nice. How about a badge or logo with a smiley wearing a forest ranger sort of hat?
Wotchit,
