It's all about distraction. I'm back down now, wading through the piles of beads. Might have something to do with a musical Pressure Drop.........any good around here? The that woke me up is all gone.

Is there any good food? Of course there is, nothing happens in Louisiana without food(really). What would you like? I would be happy to fix you a plate...
King,,,, Or did you have a craving for something specific?
Crawfish season isn't until summer... But, that is another story...

!!! I guess the most reasonable response is "I'll take a bit of all of them" as they all sound quite good.* happily* I'd humbly at the entrance to your kitchen if I wasn't here 3000 + miles away in minus 25 degree Canada......the funnel cake is quite tasty. I leave you with a Ceasar, a high octane libation that includes all the 4 food groups and a couple that probably deserve honourable mention. (Promotes levitation.....).

thanx for the Caesar!!!! Sounds Great!!!
::dishes up a huge plate of food for LhasaUbuntu and anyone else who is hungry::
I hope you like them, these are all foods that are present at Louisiana festivals. There is a Strawberry Festival, and a Gumbo Festival, and many more...
I have wanted to visit Canada for a long time. The pictures that I have seen are beautiful landscapes. But -25 degrees, that's too cold.
Would anyone else like something to eat?

Yeah, it's a wee bit chilly up here. You have to everywhere just to keep warm. Although the summers do get quite hot. We actually had minus 40 a couple of weeks ago - that's when all the sunbathers give up and come inside.

Dig in there is plenty and I am so amazed how big and sturdy this float is. It seems to be made of cardboard, but well, how did he do that?
Now you must remember when eating funnel cake not to inhale the powdered sugar as you bite. Of course blowing the powdered sugar all over your friends as you exhale is kind of frowned upon too... Would you like that with ?
***RL intervened*** I went to a RL parade yesterday in Baton Rouge. It is smaller than the parades in New Orleans and a bit well, does the term "off color" translate? I did take some nice pictures and managed to snap one as Mike's float passed by.
The parade was the Spanish Town Parade and the official mascot is the pink plastic lawn flamingo. {you read that right...}

When we lived in Denmark, the official Town Mascot (Nykobing Falster) was a BEAR
Nobody could ever explain this to me: to the best of my knowledge, Bears have NEVER been native to this part of Europe
When you remember that Falster is an ISLAND, the likelihood of bears living there becomes even more remote . . .
*[exits, in Shakespearian style, " ...pursued by a bear." ]*

A Bear???
Our official state bird is the brown pelican and the state dog is the catahoula cur. Official motto Union and Justice(in English), unofficial motto(in French) Let the good times Roll!
I am trying to post my pictures in my yahoo photo album so others can see them. If anyone is interested...

Personally I feel a lot more comfortable now I'm back in Liverpool:
"Liverpool Town where I was born ...."
[if anyone knows that song!]
Our proud mascot The Liver Bird is probably known all over the world.
What a lot of people may NOT know, however, is the local story claiming that the Liver Bird (sculpture on the rooftop of a public building on the seafront) will flap its wings if a virgin ever walks past ....
