Will I ever get this site looking clean and tidy before the VALENTINE BALL on Friday night??
*Places Rock-Ola stolen from Alfresco Pub outside tent*
These Autumn leaves have been here all winter someone should really have tidied up the site once in a while [mutter mutter]
Lucky we had these Heart chairs from the Theatre School's production of 'Alice in Wonderland' - they fit nicely with the "Moonlight and Roses" theme for the party
*Enter [stage left] Dreamweaver, riding Espharoth. They are laden with an enormous glass bowl for the Pink Champagne Punch, sacks of pink-and-white marshmallow hearts, and bags of fresh fruit to serve in the Punchbowl* ...
Espharoth flits from tree to tree, hanging bunting and gas-filled heart-shaped balloons
Dreamweaver starts cutting the fruit.

Galen Posted Feb 14, 2003

Evangeline Posted Feb 14, 2003

Dreamweaver pops a quarter into the rock-ola and select "lady in red", walzes over to the buffet, spears a selection of fruit pieces and heart shaped marshmallows on a skewer and hold it out to Espharoth for her to singe it to toasted perfection.
"Where is everybody?", she says."Didn't they read the poster on the noticeboard.
"Never mind, more Pink Champagne Punch for me", she says and dips her glass in the Punch Bowl. She lifts her glass to the starry skies and proclaims,."To every Lover and his Sweetheart everywhere"

*puts out more bowls full of for guests*
As the music finishes, he prowls over to the Rock-Ola,
gives it a kickstart
and selects "Misty"

*pours a glass of punch, sips and nibbles a while watching the other party goers dance*

*sneaks a large (nicely bound, cookbook) into the tent...after Misty finishes, changes the music to the Birthday song by the Beatles.*
Happy Birthday Dreamweaver!!

It's been slightly over a year since I last posted on this thread. Happy birthday DW, if it's still appropriate.

Aaah, I love it when someone remembers me, thanks a lot!
I had a wonderful birthday. Espharoth gave me a
ring from her dragon hoard. Baghera gave me two books by Anne McCaffrey (my favourite author) and Evangeline gave me a cookbook for my collection.
Thanks again for thinking of me , I am very touched (sniff),
Love from Dreamweaver

Ireland Castle Island
County Roscommon, Ireland, 1 acre, €542,500
Located in the heart of Ireland, land of castles and ancient kings.
Castle Island is the emblem of Northwest Ireland and of the Lough Key Forest Park. The Park has something for everyone...you can hike, fish, golf, cruise, horse-race and learn about the rich archeological history.
Above: Historical photo of the castle.
At right: the ruins of the 19th century caste.
Castle Island is found in County Roscommon, near Boyle in the lake of Lough Key (Loch Cé) in the Lough Key Forest Park. International airports can be found in in Knock, Dublin and there is a regional airport in Sligo. Train connections are available to Dublin.
The 3 mile wide circular lake, Lough Key, is the star attraction of the Lough Key Forest Park. This Park is one of the most extensive and picturesque forest parks in Ireland. The ca. 350 hectares Park features natural splendours where lakes teem with fish, wildlife abounds with rugged mountains and lush forests. Typical fauna include red squirrels, stoats, fallow deer, badgers, rabbits and hares, goldcrests and pheasants...it is also a fisherman's paradise.
Castle Island is one of 33 islands in the lake, is approx. 1 acre and is situated 100 meters off the mainland. The island features the ruins of a 3-story 19th century castle (ca. 4,000 square feet). There are two piers for landing boats. There is no electricity or water facilities on the island. The island and the park are a local tourist attractions...a development consideration for new owners. It is a national monument but could be developed for a private retreat or a tourist attraction, i.e. a small centre for secure conferences or renting as a location for weddings. The chamber of commerce and local business groups have recommended its development.
Writers have recorded the history of Lough Key for nearly 1000 years, starting with the year 1041 in the Annals of Lough Key. The Annals were compiled on Castle Island, one of 33 islands in the lake, and are now preserved in Trinity College, Dublin, whereas the Annals of Boyle were compiled on nearby Trinity Island. Both tell of countless battles fought around the lake's shores and on its islands, as powerful local chieftains, such as the MacDermotts, fought off attackers. Castle Island has passed through the ownership of two famous families the Mc Greevy's and the MacDermotts. Castle island was the throne of the former ruler of the area. The island is sometimes referred to as MacDermotts Island to this day. We first hear of a Castle Island when the Annals of Loch Cé report that it was burned down in 1187 by lightening. The castle featured in the final act of the conquest of Connacht in 1235, by Richard de Burgo whose army included 500 mounted knights. The castle came under siege, first by a raft-mounted perrier (catapult), and then by fire ships comprising wood stripped from the nearby town of Ardcarne. The combination of rocks and flames proved too much for the castle garrison, forcing Cormac MacDermott, King of Moylurg to surrender.
Irelands greatest poet W.B.Yeats visited the island and was so impressed by the setting that he wanted it to be a private center devoted to artistic endeavors.
The legend of the ill-fated lovers Una Bhan MacDermott and Thomas Laidir McCostello figures strongly in the lough's folklore. Although from rival families, the two fell deeply in love. Una's father was enraged and confined her to Castle Island where she became ill and died. Heartbroken McCostello swam out to Trinity Island every night to visit her grave until, weakened by the cold waters, he fell ill with pneumonia. On his deathbed he pleaded with Una's father to be buried alongside his loved one. So they were reunited in death and, the story goes, two rose trees grew over their grave and became entwined in a lover's knot. The bushes can still be seen.

The island is very picturesque. Doesn't seem so small in the pictures(or the 1 acre is a misprint). An island would be nice. The peace and quiet, the privacy...*sigh*
All I can add to that collection is ...
