Favorite book? Difficult to answer but anything by Terry Pratchett, Anne McCaffrey or Chris Bunch fits the bill.
TV show? Not sure, I don't really watch TV much anymore, much more fulfiling messing about on a computer.
Song? Difficult, but it is currently one of the following four:
Tasmin Archer-Sleeping Satellite (Acoustic Version)
Journey-Any Way You Want It
-Ask the Lonely
Billy Joel-We Didn't Start The Fire.
And I don't currently have a girlfriend because its a pain to hold one down being in the SAS. Can't tell them anything more than that I'm a soldier, and if I disappear for a while they all want to know where I was and when I can't tell them, they say that I've been unfaithful and so I get left behind in a decidedly irked frame of mind.
That reminds me, are there any decent bars or pubs near the base?

Oh a fan of Anne McCaffry eh, my neighbour, when I was growing up, was a fan of hers, she lent me a couple of her books but I could never get on with them, Personally I'm into Janet Evanovitch, Jasper Fforde and Sarah Paretsky,
Music, as long as it's loud I don't really mind,
TV, I can take or leave but don't call me during Dr Who
I have no time for relationships or they don't have time for me like you I can't really tell anyone what I do for a living or explain the absences
O'Malley's is good for a meal or a beer, the Officers Messs Bar is ok if you don't want to leave the base
*Smiles*
That's more like it

I guess the officers' mess doesn't serve alcohol?

Whatever they call it here, I'm trying to turn it into the kind of thing we have back home, but the Yanks are reluctant

Not surprised considering the US navy's attitude towards alcohol.

I realise that, but I've found that generally the basic rules and regs are same no matter what force your in, and therefore the ethos behind the rules and regs permeates to the rest of the armed forces of that country.

Good Grief Thamian do you always sound like Data from Star Trek?

Commander Thanaris Thamian Meridian Posted Sep 7, 2005
No, only when I'm explaining a comment.

Look Thamian, this place is a little more lax that your average military base, you don't have to be perminantly at attention and don't keep telling me what you think I want to here, for God's relax, have a little fun while you're here at the SGC, smile occationally, that'll be a start

I made the mistake of trying that with Major Kat and got my throat ripped out.

Kat's bedside manner needs a little work I'll admit but we're not all like that, LeRue is mad as a brush but one of the best in his field, your CO is a very loyal friend as is Major Scandrea, take time to make friends, you'll need them at some point
