Falling in love is creating a religion with an infallible god.

Since religon is such alose term, your not actualy saying much.

Love is having some one love you when you know you've let them down, but they are still there, being your best friend and soul mate. To me thats what love is.

Love is....
Taking the hard times with the smooth. No matter how bad they are. Love is working together to keep what you've got.
And hopefully, and if your lucky making things better... cos love seldom gives up.
And you can tell Researcher 54404 that I love her to bits too !

Love is...a man happily shopping for clothes with his partner.


Incidentally, one sure fire sign of ageing, in a single guy at least (being the only vantage point from life with which I can speak on with any real authority), is when you spot a mother and daughter out shopping, and you fancy the daughter...

I don't get why women spend so long clothes shopping, most men would much rather see them naked anyway!

Speaking as a married woman, I only go clothes shopping when I need a something specific. I don't like to spend ages doing it, and I take my husband with me because I value his opinion.

On the other hand, I'm invariably with my husband when he goes shopping for the suits that he has to wear for work (he has to look smart) and he spends so long trying them on that it bores me witless.

Love is.... resting heads together, listening to each other breathing and just being still .....

Is it better to be in love or to be loved?

I vote for being in love. When truly in love, you don't actually care if the other person reciprocates. It is nice, but not essential for the high you get being near that person.

Being loved is a bit of a pain as you are plagued by guilt about that fact that you don't reciprocate the feeling, and you don't get the really cool highs to compensate.

Love is giving all of yourself to another.Body,Mind and Soul.To want to please someone and make them happy.Putting them before all else. Constantly searching for little tidbits to keep the element of surprise in the one that you love's life. Love is fun but it also takes work. Love is not for the lazy for it slowly deminishes without "upkeep". Nurtured and properly cared for....love is Infinite.Love is something we all can feel and show if we allow ourselves.*smile*

Well us women are such law abiding people that we figure we should put on some clothes as to not get arrested. As for shopping....ewwwww! I hate it.

Yes but there is that bit in Four Weddings and a Funeral when Simon Callow says "....so that we can all say, in our dotage, I was adored once too." I didn't know that feeling until recently and it has a lot going for it!

This is just to let everybody know that Richard and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary last Wednesday (22/9/1999) and we're still as much IN LOVE and love each other as much as when we started. Thursday was the eleventh anniversary of our meeting. I picked our wedding day as the closest day I could get to the original meeting date. And Richard says that I'm not romantic!

oh that is lovely - as some one who has grown up watching her parents and most of her relatives drift in and out of marriages like nothing on earth that is really really nice to here

There's lots of entries on this forum which would look nice inside a Valentine card. What words do people think we should use about other emotions which we call love? Parent to child, child to parent, fan to football club/pop group, friend to friend, addict to their drug, me to my computer?

Love is a bit "stilting" sometimes. I've started telling friends I love them. Not using the "I love you" sentence on its own - spooky, eh? - but I have said things when they say "That was nice of you!" in a slightly unsure sort of way I say "That's OK, I love you."
Sometimes I say it when they feel down.
Sort of a solidarity thing.

Speaking as a Scorpio, also attached to his computer...how about...obsession?...devotion?...faith?...lust?
