Spanner Grrl you are far to cynical and as for Mr Red I do believe that you just describe the trama of falling in love rather the the feeling of being in love. Shouldn't love be something that is warm and comforting not a tramatic spiral through life.

Love is but one thing and one thing only, and that is a weakness. It destroys lives, makes people do studpid things and just all round make fools of themselves.

Love is not a weakness it is a strenght. Love is only a weakness when it is given as a excuse.

I guess I agree with you that love can be a strength(like all weakness's), but I fail to see how love can be an excuse. I was a dreamer, beleiveig that love was the greatest thing life gives you, but that is in an ideal world. We don't live in an ideal world

The world that you live in is the one you create. I don't mean that in the sense that we should go around living in a false reality but I do believe we create our own emotional enviroments. Sometimes we get it wrong and end up in bad situations but it is still our choice to remain there.

ha! that shows how much you know ... okay, maybe - actually that whole feeling of emotions welling up in you making you giddy is actually how I feel when I'm in love - I didn't say that it was a bad feeling, in fact it's kind groovy. Ditto the feeling like crying - it's not bad at all, just very ... different. I told you I wasn't explaining it well. And when I'm in love I still wonder what the other person thinks of me, even if I know they love me - I'm just paranoid, that's all.

... agree with Jazzman about one thing - love is not a weakness. If anything, not being able to love is a weakness. If you don't love people, what's the point of this sorry place (if anyone says procreation, I'm a gunna hit them with a wet fish). If we don't live in an ideal world, maybe we should be doing something about it.
The only time love is a weakness is when you're using it as an excuse not to get on with the rest of your life. For some people love is a good excuse to mope. Moping is all bad. Wallow in your depression and you'll drown.

I agree with Johnny the Red's description of what love is like. And much so the point about not having them love you back. I would disagree with the point of continually wondering wether they love you back. I think that when you are in love you are blind to what they may think. You are in love and they must be just as in love. Possibily questioning whether they love you ar not could be insecurity. In some cases this probably is a good thing as you are more likely to notice if something is not right. I just hope if I fall in love again, that I have the same faith as last time, it was misguided but to feel differently would be wrong.

In the case of using love as an excuse to mope. I agree love is no excuse to mope. But if you truely love someone you cannot make the feelings go away. You can get on with life, and on the outside you may be perfectly fine, but you cannot get rid of the feeling in your heart, head, stomach, actually every part of your body.

You can fall into love in a second but it can takes years to fall out of love. Maybe this is the best thing about love. Its enduring nature, no matter what happens the feelings stay. This is the great thing in a relationship but the worst thing in a breakup.

anyway, Love is...something which blossoms from friendship and is the mother-plant of obsession. for instance, i know for a fact that i live exactly 138.4 miles away from my girlfriend, and that she is precisely 8 months, 21 days, 20 hours and 45 minutes younger than me. see what i mean about the obsession thing. also, Love is...something that is helped greatly by e-mail.

the best cure i can think of for the messing with your spelling thing is editing your posts with great care. for example, it took me three minutes to change the errors in this little post.

Just stumbled in here and I was intregued by the conversations. In my twisted and sometimes hopelessly romantic opinnion, love is... not needing to be together every moment to realize how you feel. Love is... waking up alone with a smile. Obsession is something to be avoided because it often leads to the parinoia talked about previously. I find that in being the romantic sap that I am it is difficult not to glorify a relationship I'm in while talking to others. It ends up slapping me in the face. It's all good.
