No need for sarcasm, ictoan, not everybody in this thread knows the whereabouts of Kew Gardens, and while everybody was talking about taking photos there, you chimed in with your remark about taking photos in central London.

B'Elana - I'm quite flattered that you chose not to take my post literally, it shows you hold me in higher regard than I deserve. Although it does mean I shall now have to totally humiliate myself in order to prove your charge inaccurate! Ah well, humility is supposed to be a virtue.
The post was literal, I meant it exactly as typed. I am one of those in this thread who know (knew) not the location of Kew Gardens (until your post, whereupon I went to google maps and was somewhat surprised!). I genuinely did think it was in central London, somewhere in the region of Buck Palace to be honest. My geographical knowledge is one of my weaknesses. I was in my late teens before I even knew the difference between Leeds and Liverpool - to me they were just cities starting with 'L'. But then I do have rather strange information categorisation processes, seemingly far more associative than most peoples.
Kew in London was my thought because it is always mentioned, on telly in England, with references to royalty and other English institutions so I mentally filed it along with them and assumed it was near them.
You may now laugh at me

no response...does that mean you don't believe me or that my response also came across as sarcastic? It wasn't meant to!

It means I only just found your post.
Thanks for being honest. I'm now glad I pointed out that Kew Gardens is nowhere near central London, if it only helps one person to get the right idea.
>>My geographical knowledge is one of my weaknesses<<
Same here. I hated geography at school and never paid attention, which I regret now. I only know the whereabouts of Kew Gardens because I've been there several times.
Oh, and I've always said I don't get sarcasm and wouldn't recognise it if it jumped me in the face - and there I was so proud to get it once in my life - only to find out that it was no sarcasm at all.
Look forward to meeting you (I'll go for the city walk, though, not to Kew gardens).

no worries and text medium is perhaps the worst for trying to decipher sarcasm anyway!

I was just flattered you thought me intelligent and knowledgable enough to assume I must know where Kew was! I'm rarely offended by people assuming I am more knowledgable than I really am

A couple of things -
Kew is really expensive to get into (£13/£11) and
The treetop walk is currently closed
However, I was there last week and it was amazing/mind-blowing.
Those who wanted to go the Soane Museum (free) could do it on ReddyFreedie's walk as it is a five minute diversion and would allow him to include Gray's Inn (which is well worth walking around) as well.

I think - time, distances and costs all included - Kew just isn't going to be practical for this time - shame as I would love to go.
Think I shall have to change to the RF walk instead.

For those opting for the Kew event, please e-mail me for my mobile number. My addy is at the bottom of my PS. Include H2G2 in the subject to prevent the spam filter deleting t!
I may, as a member, be able to get you in on the concession rate. I'm not sure how it works. There is also a group rate... again uncertain how many.
Pizza Express for a bite before the evening Meet? Separate bills?
Please advise preferences.
Also happy to provide travel directions for the City walk if necessary!

I won't be doing the evening event nor pizza place as just getting to Kew event will be well, an event in itself, lol!
I will sit here and only be able to make up my mind literally 10 mins before leaving time. I shall bring extra tablet with me just incase as a standby but don't really want to take it before as then won't have the availablity of it.
Don't be surprised if I spend some of the time shaking and talking to myself it is my natural state a lot of time now, lol. I am not joking either! I also might go quiet as with new people, yes we have all talked on here so to speak but that is in my front room and not in the big wide world.
Blimey, I might have to bring some Sarnies with me, it will be like proper going out, lol!
......I could even bring my flask!

Mazzin, thanks for offer of your mobil number but that will just make me even more stressed about it, what I will do is check this thread for changes about the 12.00 meeting time at the Kew Gardens gate and if it changes I am sure someone will post that on here. That way I can just turn up at the right time with no probs!
