A Conversation for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Adventure Game
That Darn Bulldozer! etc... [Important Hints]
Loup Dargent Started conversation Oct 7, 2004
Now that I've done my "journalistic" duties and included a link to this very useful and needed page in my contribution to <./>ThePost</.> [A3092582] this week, I thought I might start posting a few tips...
One thing to know is that there is no point in trying to stop the bulldozer... and that you better start taking it _literally_ lying down if you want to go further in the game...
Oh and you know, this advice we're given not to accept sweets from strangers? Well, at this particular part of the game, that could apply to towels as well [even so Ford is not actually a stranger]...
Talk soon...

Granny Weatherwax... Yeah, I had problems leaving the bedroom at first... like many times...
It seems that typing which direction you want to go is quicker somehow and definitely less painful...
Like, for example, if you wanted to go South you could type:
go South
and that should take you to... etc etc...
[I didn't want to be too "bulldozer-like" with my hints but we don't want people to give up at the beginning of the game do we?...]
Have fun once out of the house...

Traveller in Time... I haven't been there for ages [I've got my tips/hints from another place..] but I might have a nose again soon...

Traveller in Time on the spoilers
"
>LOOK
at any object you see
>TAKE
anything not nailed down
Hmm, Oh yes the sequence in wich you look or take or go does matter!"

Yep, Traveller in Time... good tip there... I took whatever was available to TAKE before leaving the bedroom and the house...

>Yep, Traveller in Time... good tip there...<
Meant >another good tip there<...
Decided to save game _at last_... Tip on how to save game was definitely most helpful... I wonder how many people have given up because of that seemingly impossible task [impossible without the tip that is...]...
Anyway, going back to the Babelfish part of it... and will probably pop back here if I'm stuck again there [the hints I've got for that one don't seem to help much...]...
Back soon[ish]...

how does one get Ford to tell one what the heck it is he wants to say-it is now driving me up the wall.

Cat-Eyes: No..... why.... ? Posted Oct 10, 2004
Probably the most important thing to do is, if in doubt, wait.
Also, I keep getting lost on the Heart of Gold... I have no sense of direction in this game! I end up walking around aimlessly, trying to convince a door that i'm smart and having to restore to find out where I am... I don't think navigation is sposed to be one of the problems though...

Another thing to bear in mind is that dying can be a useful thing, in that you learn quite a lot from this
Cat, I found that if I drew a corridor on a piece of paper, and then navigated by port, starboard, aft , fore, up, down I was able to map out where all the rooms and levels are. Navigating is not that complicated once you have a map.

You do? All I kept learning was that I talk too much for a dead person...
Next time I'll play I'll try and make a map

I found out recently that even though I was on the Heart of Gold there was something crucial I had missed in the pub. I had to go back and find it. I think if you die alot you figure these things out better. Perhaps.

Cat-Eyes: No..... why.... ? Posted Oct 10, 2004
Ahh, yes, I think I was told about that at one stage by someone else so I rectified the situation when I was stuck with the babel fish.

I would just like to know how to speak to people. What form do I use. I'm stuck on a part where I need to speak to someone. I need to ask them to do something. But everything I try is wrong. Please help.

I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but there is a map thing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/map_hog.shtml
I have a question, though. In the hints, it says to read the question about the fluff, only, there isn't a question about fluff. And it says to eat the fruit. What fruit? I've been to all the different worlds, but I've never seen any fruit.
Any help at all would much appreciated.

You have to be patient. Quite alot. Until you're not worried about the house being knocked down immediately. Plus don't be taking any gifts
