A Conversation for FANTASY FOOTBALL - Season 13 - No Money-bags!
FF13 - Week One
Ormondroyd Posted Jan 5, 2005
We interrupt this thread for a news bulletin.
In football today: Chelsea declare bankruptcy, David Beckham joins Kidderminster Harriers and Alan Smith is appointed a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations. But first, the news that has *really* shocked the world of football: Master B has paid up!
A cheque in full settlement of last season's bet was received at Chateau Ormondroyd in Bradford this morning, with just three days to spare before the deadline. So the expected penalty for reneging will not be invoked after all, and the other competitors in FF13 will have to wait a couple of weeks to be 10 points ahead of MB!
It is not yet known whether this sensational development will be on the agenda when the G8 nations meet for financial talks tomorrow.

I might as well have drawn these out of a hat, but hey, the form book usually goes out of the window in the Cup anyway...
Tottenham Hotspur 4 Brighton & Hove Albino 1 (Robbie Keane)
Plymouth Argyle Football Co. Ltd. 0 Everton 2 (James Beattie)
Birmingham City 1 Leeds United 1 (Emile Heskey!)
Ipswich Town 2 Bolton Wanderers 1 (Darren Bent)
Sheffield United 1 Aston Villa 1 (Michael Tonge)
Chelsea 5 Scunthorpe United 1 (Mateja Kezman)

Hang on, I've just had a thought.
If I can manage to get hold of this mythical form book before half past five on Saturday, and chuck it out of a convenient window at Home Park, I might get to witness a Cup upset.

Birmingham v Leeds 2-0 (Heskey)
Ipswich v Bolton 1-0 (Kuqi)
Sheffield Utd v Aston Villa 2-1 (Gray)

Not only does someone have a player scoring for Argyle who has crossed the border but there have been a few injuries over the last two weeks. Bit keen some of you.

There were nowt lucky about it
All apart from the first eight or so minutes in the second half, the Blades were the equal or the better of Villa.
Yes, the second goal was an off-side: but it took the replay to show that as the fact. Most of the players, all of the fans, and most crucially the linesman thought that the flick on was from a Villa head. Therefore the goal stands.
And anyway Liddell came up with number three just seconds later, so that's it. We won, we feel good about the future, and we are going up
