[a follicly challanged person passes through]
Hi all
one of my rare trips to vist Lils (must come over more often)
Strangly the problems seem a lot worse when I log in through telewest (Blueyonder or whatever they call themselves this week) and the connection seems a lot more stable and faster via BT.
As I keep getting "server not found or DNS error" messages I can't help wondering if theres a routing problem somewhere (not neccessarily at h2g2) as well as the speed problems the site knows its got.
As for the newbie in the feedback forum, he certainly seems to have steamed a few people up, but he doesn't seem to have tried very hard to find hitchhiker content before moaning.
Lil
May I offer my condolences to you and your fellow Americans on the election of W.

But I suspect your right about Al Gore being relived that its all over for him.

I checked the conversation, read what that pompous a**e had posted, and decided to ignore him - he seems to have no idea at all what life is really about...
Matina, a Y please...

Amen to that! Let's not dignify it with further comment.

Spiny are you commenting on the idiot over in that forum or the election of W that Bald Bloke was saying about
Both could be applicable to your comment

First time I've been able to log on all day -- and me with broadband, too!
Hi Bald Bloke! Why ~don't~ you stop by more often?
I read right through that "trite c****" thread, and found the newbie's evolution quite interesting. From "You can't talk to me like that, I has a philosophy degree." to sounding suspiciously like a researcher. Looney is the most subversive person I think I have ever met. I could never have carried that barb off the way he did. And the fellow was so busy being condescending that he never saw it! Let's raise a to Looney, our imponderably Deep One!
Please, nobody tell Xolin about the atelier.
Election: Except for the conspicuous vacuum in the middle, it's going to be Reagan all over again. A hand puppet in a sea of white male advisors, with token exceptions like Colin Powell, brought in to buttress the popularity quotient of the regime, er, administration.
Hey, has anybody seen ox lately?
Sporky, Mike says you have American McGee's Alice! I just bought it yesterday. Will I have fun?

Matina, champers please. It's time to clean out a few of my older, slower, braincells.

Exams all done! And the old fairy tale is true: sometimes if you get an A in a course, you really -are- exempt from the final!
Wish someone had told me that before l hung about campus waiting to take the final for 5 hours, studying today...
And to think l can owe my grade nearly entirely to TMBG's "Why Does The Sun Shine?"
l also today had the singular experience of my Lit professor asking me point blank, "Why is your life so screwed up?"
l've never had a teacher ask me -that- before...at least, not without couching it in a slightly subtler phrase...
Everyone else surviving okay? 'S almost break...
*still thinks the election mess was best put by the Daily Show's Jon Stewart:
"I was not elected to serve one party..."
"You weren't -elected-."
The joys of basic cable... *

I wish I'd seen that! We can be sure it's the taste of much that is to come. And meanwhile, in Florida, the Get Jeb Movement is already underway... You don't alienate all those nice little old ladies by conning them into voting for Buchanan and get away with it!
The reason why Gore was smiling so broadly during his concession speech will also become more and more clear as months pass.
Tomorrow evening I am going to PLAY; I am going to install this Alice game and explore a prefab world, unlike this openended space of ours that Xolin seems to think so little of.
Why didn't somebody escort him to the B Ark?

*After over 24 hours of this type of behavior, Affy manages to pull himself out of the corner in time to respond to that*
No, let's not put him in the B Ark. Think about it. You take the worst of their planet, after a lot of evolution you get us. And we, being ourselves, can live with that. Well, most of us anyway.
Now, what happens if you take the worst of *us* and put it into the B Ark? It just wouldn't be healthy for whatever poor planet is selected for the crash.
*Sniffs a little and brightens up*
I'm glad the election's over. Another election come and gone, and no one knows enough about me to make more than an educated guess as to who I rooted for. I didn't get the Civil War I was hoping to start, but hey, in another four years I'll probably have another shot. My only problem is that it won't be as easy to fake electronic ballots as it is to fake paper ballots. It was so close to being another one of those 'historical events' that I like to witness, but it didn't happen.
*Pours himself a small glass of phlog, and raises it in toast*
Here's to insanity, political chaos, temporary anarchy, hyper beureaucracy, and all the little quirks that cause tragedy, thus giving birth to annoyances and comedy, two of the five driving forces that I use to get through life, and two of many that people can choose to assist guiding them through life!
*Drinks the phlog*
Well, let's see. Only about ten more shopping days until Christmas. I'd better head down to a few shopping centres and laugh at people. Later!
*Bounds down the stairs, none the worse for the ware after his twenty-four hours of sobbing*

Good [INSERT RELATIVE TIME REFERENCE HERE] all.
Sporky is in the Online window, but is he still here?
*waves just in case*
Matina, an OJ for me while I ponder on last night's meet up IRL with a few fellow researchers. BTW, Munchkin, drop me a line and I'll let you know what happened.
Hope CC managed to get her papers finished, either that or she has fallen asleep inthe middle of it

I'm always here
American McGee's Alice is wonderful, lil! All five minutes I've played of it, to tell the truth. Sounds very silly, but my computer is too fast to play most games...

*Matina trundles into the room, regards the pile of calling cards with distane, collects them all, barr those Lil hasn't yet seen, and obviously not Titania's as it will disolve when she next floats into the room, takes the rest out to mulch*
