Don't know what's going on with that link. It worked fine for me.
You could try http://www.royalacademy.org.uk/p-ex-scot.htm though it redirects to the page Spiny put up.

Oops, that was short, really.
You're right, Titania, the moon is just smashing!

Phil, now I got the connection to this link - thanks
Okay, time for a nap

*Affy suddenly appears on the Veranda, followed by the book he was reading. He checks his watch*
Well, I'll be. Roughly four hours after I discovered the book, and in roughly the same location. It's been awhile since I've seen such a correct guess in a contained tunnel. I'll need to map it out later.
*Looks around and sees that it's getting about time for bed. Decides to go downstairs for the night*
Oh, well. It's that time of year again. At least my V'Ger is working IRL.

Dang, just missed Affi.
*following Titania and Kasia out to the veranda, carrying the tray of food*
I'm listening to the second of three tapes Mike A sent me. Saxon are a very good band! Slayer, well, lots of bombast, so far. A bit short on the melody department. Can't wait till the tape rolls on and I find out what Slipknot sound like.

Mm. RL surrealifies further each day...my, what a pretty moon.
l'll be interested to see what you think of the Slipknot, Lil!

I'm rolling Mike's first selection of Slipknot, "Eyeless". Tunefulness, 0 - Slipknot, 1. Makes Tom Waits sound like Johnny Mathis. My God, the man's tonsils must bleed when he performs this. Now on to "Surfacing". Man, the energy!! *long pause while Lil concentrates* I love it! Makes me wish mom and dad were still alive so I could offend them. I am not doing this justice by playing a tape on a portable boombox.
And now "Me Inside." Same rhythm and jackhammer bass as the other two selections. Gary Glitter, this is your legacy.
Post-Stravinsky polyphony? Holy s***, he CAN sing! Please excuse my language, I'm listening to Slipknot. You just have to understand.
So ~this~ is what Mike's user page and his rants were about! My eyes are opened.
*as the stop button goes clunk, Lil sits down and starts to make herself a sort of taco with one of the pita breads*
Odra, what do you think of Slipknot and all? I think I liked the Saxon best. I have some Bathory and Entombed to listen to on the other side, but I think I need a rest.

Lil, I'm watching the clowns at CNN trying to work out what the Supreme Court sending the election case back to the Florida Supreme Court means. Great humour

l've not heard Saxon et al myself, but shall check them on Napster and give it a go. l have heard Slipknot, and saw them live last spring...that was -interesting-...
Have you heard about the masks they wear, all the band, when performing live? Something along the lines of tribal gear. The lead singer explained that his mask actually inflicted pain upon him by its design...give him that -edge-.

oh yes, I've seen pictures of the band in their bright red boilersuits. And masks. The Saxon tracks that Mike sent me are Motorcycle Man, Machine Gun and Heavy Metal Thunder. I give them high marks, technically, good production, and the lead singer has a good HM-type voice, the operatic vibrato and all. As for the infliction of pain, Slipknot's lead singer can do that to himself just by singing the way he does. Five years, I give him serious nodes on his vocal chords.
Looney, there's no tv back here where I am, you're the one to give me the news. Gone back to the Florida Supreme Court, you say? That proves it. This is a conspiracy by the judiciary wing of government to prolong the comedy.

CNN's legal analysts are struggling to make head or tail out of the ruling. The opinions of various Supreme Court judges are all over the place.
The legal analysts are freezing to death on the court steps in Washington
The full legal opinion is posted at CNN.com apparently

I'm back from sitting in front of the telly, taking it all in.
What I have heard is that, probably tomorrow, the Republican-dominated Florida legislature is going to disenfranchise me.
We are just catching our breath after 5 weeks of a continuous volley. If and when Governor Dubya becomes president, it will take several months, but there is going to be a fairly serious backlash in the press. I read Sunday that the Miami Herald has sued the elections office for sight of the ballots. One of the editors has said, and I quote, "If they won't count them, we will." Imagine what it will be like if (when) the true count comes out, say, next summer...

Lil, l seem to remember hearing that under Florida's freedom-of-information "Sunshine Laws" that anyone could request the ballots, at some point, though l'm not clear on when. l believe that at least two organizations have previously requested them, and if the Herald has as well, that'll be three. Does that sound right?
The truth will out...

We can only hope that we are not deafened by the new Ministry of Truth before then. I believe we are supposed to be lulled by Mr. Baker's avuncular attitude and silver hair into forgetting that we (Florida voters) were outmaneuvered by the best lawyers money can buy. If you listened to his statement tonight, you will have heard him talk entirely about the legal team and not at all about us voters.
A couple of good things could come out of this: 1. rapid and thorough overhaul of Florida's voting methodology, 2. incredibly high turnout for the congressional elections in 2 year's time, and 3. merciless scrutiny of the process when it occurs in 2 year's time. I am personally willing to volunteer to be a ballot box escort. Some very partisan Republicans have indulged their sense of humour at the expense of Democratic voters over the past month, and I'm willing to wager that Democrats will remember this.
Ah well, there are plenty of people on h2g2 who voted for Bush and I don't mean to alienate them. But it particularly stings to have been a Florida voter, tonight.

It's not really fit food for this thread, either, Sporky. In future, I shall confine my ranting to http://www.brillscontent.com , where they have a most interesting set of message boards just getting under way.
Try some of this guacamole Matina made. It's actually rather spicy.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Dec 13, 2000
December 13th, early in the morning
*a procession of Swedish blondes appear, all dressed in white, lead by a girl wearing a crown of burning candles*
The Feast of St. Lucia: 'Luciadagen'
And I will stay awake throughout the longest winter night
And dress up in a red silk sash and flowing gown of white
And serve my parents with warm sweets and sing for their delight.
And I will wear upon my head a crown of fragrant green
Ablaze with tall white candles, with golden candle-gleam,
And I will be a Lussibrud as in some wondrous dream.
And as the night begins to fade I'll greet December sun
And knock on all the neighbors' doors and sing to everyone
And offer all the friends I greet a golden saffron bun.
Lucia maidens will come too, with silver in their hair
And star boys with their studded wands and pointed caps to wear,
And elfin boys will follow us as we walk everywhere.
And I will stay awake throughout the longest winter night
And dress up in my silken sash, my crown, my robe of white
And I will be, for one brief day, Lucia of the Light. '

Natten går tunga fjät
runt gård och stuva
Kring jord som sol'n förlät
skuggorna ruva…
*leaving a tray behind, loaded with glögg, coffee 'lussebullar' and gingerbread cookies *
*drifting out into Magic forest*

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound brash... just that this whole thing is rather tiresome- draining. I too am on brills, daily, in fact.
