*waves to Z* Happy anniversary!
Give my love to Mrs Zen - I understand she may well throw a coffee-mug at anyone who interrupts her right now, so I am content if you keep it until she emerges for food and bed. Dissertating while working full-time is the PITS. *shudders delicately in remembrance*

Thanks, Ag. I know 'albacore' and Monticore, but this was a new one.
Happy anniversary to the Zens!

Hi Ag!
G'night all.

Happy Anniversary, Zens
Busy week back at base. Requalified on the rifle as I have guarding duties next month. Wednesday to Friday I had a first aid course which gets me a civvy qualification valid for three years.
A stonemason friend from up the road has rebuilt the dry-stone wall at the back of our garden. Apparently every hundred yards or so on a drystone wall the tradition was that a stone would be placed that could be easily pulled out. The wall's owner would be expected to leave a half bottle of whisky behind the stone.
When he picks up a stone he doesn't put it down "...there's a place for it somewhere".

It has been ages since I qualified on the rifle, mind I have been without the uniform for over 13 years. I don't like their current one, little thing that is American and half is plastic. I much preferred the Belgian one of earlier years ... A substantial piece of machinery

*Stumbles in, having managed to get who was sitting on her chest off so she can get up properly.*
Monty came home at 1am last night: mewing to be let in. He was a bit hungry, but otherwise looks completely the same.
Hopefully the weather this afternoon will be good enough for cricket.
happy anniversary Zens.

The weather this afternoon will be weather. I expect it to be wet again, like yesterday when I almost got drenched down at the plot. Thankfully thee local primary school have a large polytunnel on their plot and I was able to shelter in there while the heavy shower passed over.
Happy aniversary Zens

Happy aniverary 'The Zens'
Off on a course to learn how to use an X-ray machine Monday. No, not the kind that looks for broken bones the type used for looking for explosives and drugs etc.

It s miserable outside here in NI, but Max is behaving despite the confined to quarters status.
Dai is recovering from eye surgery yesterday (a modern-medicine-is-amazing lens replacement ) so we are enjoying slouching on the sofa shouting "Come on Darren!" at the Open golf coverage.

Days like this I wish I had a proper tv package so I could watch the women's world cup.
Overcast here with a breeze picking up, and swallows between 20 and 50 feet (I measure by trees) so rain may be coming.

There's a scrawny elm no-longer-quite-a-sapling at my window, and the swallows have just discovered it as a stopping off place, I counted fifteen, and the elm was starting to bend over like a weeping willow. At least this gave me a chance to make a positive ID -- they're cave swallows.

Working an X Ray machine sounds rather fun.
I haven't achieved as much as I'd have liked this weekend. But we did do a run through for the excellent Medical History Walking Tour of Edinburgh that I am doing for the Fringe, and I'm actually confident it'll be a good show.

Happy anniversary to the Zens, happy return of Monty, and happy return to the salon sofa for Ag.
I just finished watching a series called "The Last Enemy", about identity tracking. It was pretty good. It got me thinking about all that chip business in debit cards, passports and the proposed US identity cards. How did the National Identity Card debate turn out in the UK? Are yours now "chipped"?

My data isn't statistically significant. I wish it had been, I could have submitted it to this years US Stroke conference, which is in New Orleans, I've wanted to go to New Orleans for ages..
