"Interspecies greetings! "
Wow, that's really cool, Lil!
My cats used to greet other species -- but they weren't fond of dogs, and I *strenuously* discouraged them hanging out with the resident skunk.
The cat I have now wouldn't be that brave -- the most she does is hang out in the back window and do that threat-chitter at the birds in the backyard.

G'night all.

Being strictly indoor cats, ours are amazingly 'brave' as well. I do love the chitter when certain birds employ our bath in the front gardens

On the subject of cats, Monty has been spotted in a nearby group of bungalows, but we need to get him to come out when the weather's damp and be caught now.

[BB] currently stands for busy busy, I seem to have months work to do before I go on holiday at the end of next week.

I think the swallow eggs have hatched; the adults are all flying back and forth, back and forth, from the eaves to about mid-pasture, where there must be an enormous number of insects in the air.

I've been looking up fun facts about cats. Apparently, they don't meow at each other, just humans.
... and according to someone on Twitter roleplaying as Portal 2's "Fact Sphere" (you run into it and a number of other malfunctioning AI personality cores), they instead sing hymns to each other.

Yar, that is what my kids will refer to as "The Nerdy Fact of the Day" when I tell them.

I also meant to mention that as far as I can tell it is completely true now that I think about it.

I've heard that cats are the second best species at profanity.

*Sneaks in to collect coffee in a pint mug from the kitchen, and then slinks over to a sofa and collapses onto it like a puppet dropped from the ceiling, only just NOT spilling the coffee*
Greetings.

Greetings right back at you.
Peanut, welcome to the atelier, please make yourself at home. Have you checked our forum page, A304354 , yet? Lots of important stuff there about what this place is and how it works.
anybody know what "mumblecore" is, in the context of, say, movie scripts?
105Xth Conversation Chez Lil
Agapanthus Posted Jul 16, 2011
"Mumblecore" - a certain type of indie film which involves a lot of young white middleclass men having Anxst, or do I mean Agida?, in which a lot of the script is actually improvised and by golly but there's a lot of mumbling. A lot of the actors are also amateurs. So I suppose it refers to the improvised and/or 'winging it' sections, because they are characteristic of the genre. As is lo-fi, low-budget, hand-held and single-mike.
How on earth do I know that? I have no idea how I know that. I spend too much time cataloguing media studies books, I think.

Is that an Agapanthus I see there?
We've just had a lovely second Wedding Aniversary - including a trip to the ruined Abbey on Incholme Island and dinner in St Andrews.
