I've probably been a long timer now. I've come from medical student, to junior doctor, to middle grade, to student again. Humm...

When I joined - which was in 2003 - after a year or two on h2 Ben was on my h2 radar, and we'd chatted a bit. But I do really think that it was at the salon that we formed a friendship.

And then..

I'd have been here sooner, but life, my pesky job and not being able to figure out which top to wear with my oh so dignified black velvet skirt resulted in delay.

*points to her unusual, glittery top* So, what do you think? I chose teal because I look good in teal. It's hard to see the pattern unless I stand perfectly still, and when did you ever know me to do that? It is a goose quill pen embroidered in silver thread with beads and seed pearls scattered along the stem and in the feather.

Each of the 33 beads represents a salonista past or present that I've met in person. Brits of all persuasions, Americans, Swedes, Germans, a Norwegian and an Estonian. Hope I counted correctly. Not bad for a small town librarian from the middle of nowhere. Oh! In addition, the three large beads in the center represent my adorable cyber nephews.

It appears that Wolfgang got that invisibility cloak to work. *silly* Actually, I shouldn't tell you all this, he had a bit of an accident and has been out of commission. He got into a fracas with the boyfriend of his third ex-wife who claimed was behind in his alimony payments. One thing lead to another with the end result being that both men spent a couple of nights in the slammer and the Ex, who wasn't actually awarded alimony (she was awarded canine support for the life of their boxer, appropriately named Cassius)is being sued by Wolfgang's shyster brother for defammation of character and enciting to riot. Life is never dull with Wolfgang as a friend.

So, it's time I got out of these fancy clothes and into my jeans and an apron and got the BBQ started. I hope you're all hungry because there's enough food to feed a small army.

*wanders off trying to make sense out of Wolfgang's BBQ sauce recipe* One of the ingredients is Jack Daniels. Yep, it's Wolfgang's.

Sir Marv, that was an extraordinary speech and I thank you for the sentiments you have expressed. Let me gather my thoughts; I expect to speak a few words on my own behalf later in the party.

As for dancing, there's a DJ setup in the conservatory, and y'all can play the music of your choice whenever the string quartet takes a break.

Greetingage and salutations, all. Been a while for most, and one or two I've never seen at all...

Never mind that, though, when I got the reminder that the tenth anniversary party was proceding, I couldn't resist whipping up a little time window downstairs to help me recall the first few conversations. It was a simpler time then, back when donuts were used as currency and bluDragon's court would climb mountains with experts picked up from cafes. Back when The Digital Village still oversaw us and the webjellow hadn't yet experienced the encroachment of the Orchid Invasion, though I suppose in time the webjellows of the world learned to live alongside the orchids. And then some.

Anyway, enough chatter...Time Window!

*Tosses the metallic briefcase into the air and watches it unfold into a tiny little projector screen wish flashes an image of F32669?thread=46395 onto the wall*

Of course, that particular slide is from before it was really an Atelier. A short while after that we started building up the ground floor (it started as, basically, a shack) and that gave us more room up here.

Incidentally, don't worry about changing history with the window. We've already changed it simply by observing it, and so any damage that will have been done has already been about to happen. Besides, not much could get through the window anyway.

Oh, and before I forget...inflatable squids!
