Hush,,, nothing about voting until after 10:00 pm!

*Ben plumps up the cushions, orders up a Chinese, opens a bottle and sets in for the night*

No partiality here - stick to the BBC rules please!

It's after 10! Exit polls show Conservatives win most seats, but with no overall majority. Lib Dems not done as well as expected.

I'm feelign depressed already. I didn't actually want a tory government, I just wanted to not vote Labour.

*sips coffee*

Is it significant that the first 3 elected MPs are women?

Yes, it was an interesting experience voting today. Previously I have allways voted for my particular party with enthusiasm. This time I actualy read the other parties leaflets, with thoughts of changing my vote. In the end I did not change the habit of a lifetime, but it shows how poor the incumbent is. If a red to the core supporter starts considering switching allegence.

Well, hmm. Far too early to tell, of course, and the early declares are always Labour. Interesting to see that the nation appears to have collectively bottled out of voting Lib Dem, despite the hype.

I wonder how Demon Drawer did. And I brought more Chinese -- beef with broccoli in bean sauce.

I think that's a shame. I fear strong majority governments. That way leads to Poll Tax and Illegal Wars...

All play to Mr. "standing at the back with my arm in the air like I need to ask Teacher for the toilet" man.

Interesting from Exeter, the old swingometer does not appear to be swinging far enough to the tories.

Traditionally Tory safe/marginal seats don't return until later (on account of being sparsely populated rural areas) so the early results tend to favour Labour.

The reality is certainly more ambiguous than the prediction. Seems the swingometer doesn't swing three ways.

It bugs meI can't find an online ticker of results. Lots of interactive doubreys though... smiley - smiley

Do you think Lembit Opik ever got them both?

OOps. That was me.

It did occur to me that Lembit would have kept his seat if he'd dated a cheeky smiley - sheep

Somewhat shallowly, I was just enjoying the returning officer's god awful attempt at Welsh - it was only when I finished laughing that I realised it was Lembit's seat. On a serious note, if the Lib Dem's can't keep such a high profile MP, what hope is there for them?
