I have real explicit instructions from Styx. I leave food out on the counter for him. The kibble is in a bag on the floor in the pantry. I suggested he could take a supply with him when he goes exploring. You know, rat pemmican.

What's with it? Eh. Who knows. l blame my actual AOL software, because l've had a similar thing to this happen before with an earlier version. A friend of mine's AOL did this to him a week or so ago, but the circumstances were different: his application just crashed and wouldn't open again, even after he rebooted. Mine opens okay, and lets me log on, but the access company won't pick up,and when it does, usually terminates connection within a few minutes, giving no reason.

Neither of us had the latest version of AOL, which is on 5.0 now. l don't know if it was just a 4.0 bug or not. Unable to do anything else, but still able to get online because he runs AOL through a proxy and just uses AOLNet, he downloaded 5.0 and has no problems with it. l managed to get a CD of the program and install it...so l'm keeping fingers crossed...

Annnyway. Long past few days of yelling at customer service representatives, screwing around with modem strings, hoping l didn't have to replace the one l had, changing around picture file settings in vain hope of making it work..

lronically, despite the timing, this had nothing to do with the Verizon strike. That's had surprisingly little effect, it seems to me...but then, l haven't tried to call lnformation or have my phone fixed or wanted to get lSDN, DSL or a new line installed...

Where is this German forum located? l speak a little German...very, very, very little...but l am taking it as a class this fall and hope to learn more. l would like to be able to read books in their original language, and perhaps travel.
