Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Jul 13, 2005
Apart from LS-W who is excessively shy and J who just doesn't know when he's gone to far all the people I RP with are quite well adjusted socially... well, maybe not RH-R, but he *is* an RE teacher. .
What I really like is when people tell me that I have no friends/no social life because I'm a roleplayer... I put on an expression of comic puzzlement and say "but if I have no friends does that mean all the other people I role-play with, who also have no friends, are imaginary?"

This is another one of those allergy in eyes, can't focus properly mornings. I had soy bacon for brekkie, so my day hasn't started off particularly well in the food department, either. I think I'd rather take a chance on the cholesterol and fat than to eat that stuff regularly. And Minerva totally demolished another tp roll over night. She doesn't just unroll it - she shreds it. It takes forever to pick it all up.
I have to go by the store on the way to work to pick up food for my teens this afternoon. It's time for me to get in gear.

Zach did the *exact same thing* last night! I suspect a global cat plot.
I'm waiting for Roofer #2. Roofer #3 is due this afternoon.

The electricity goes off in about 25 minutes and will stay off for the rest of the day, as a transformer gets replaced. Well, they SAY it will be back by 1 pm but we know better.
So I'll see you guys much later.

Roofer #2 muffed the appointed and has rescheduled for tomorrow. This does not bode well for Roofer #2.
So now I'm off to work, only to come home again in a little while for Roofer #3.

i don't have much to say, other than that i am quite tired. tuesdays i work with a woman putting her stuff up on ebay - i have yet to leave the place before 12.30 am.
if any of you are interested in seeing any, come tomorrow afternoon after 3pm EST, go on under Art, Prints, Antique, Botanical and search for Curtis - there should be about 29 of them which are hers.
frankly, quite a lot of them are horrible looking - not because of quality, but because of subject.

That statement reminds me an awful lot of Francis Bacon's screaming Popes.
I have only been at work for less than 45 minutes, and have had to deal solely with whiny, bossy, rude--to use Kerr's term--fxckwxts. Enough. Can I start the smackdowns now?

Hypatia Posted Jul 13, 2005
FG, I've always wanted a job where I could smack people.
We now have a woman angry with us because we don't have an adult-sized Clifford costume to check out. She came in and said she wanted to check out Clifford. So Sara showed her the Clifford books and videos. No, she wanted Clifford! The costume that we have. Nooooooooooo, we don't have costumes. Sure you do! I saw it here once. I have no idea what she's been smoking.

Come on, Hyp! Libraries are all possible shops, stores and information facilities rolled into one. This is why people ask us for legal advice, items such as stamps and all the rest of it.

Can't stop, off to the studio again.
I hope Lil found my rather surreal painting as side-achingly funny as we did at home. I am now going to attempt something more serious, ie with a background and foreground as well as some people.
I don't know, 24 hours after downloading the software and I'm getting all technical.
*So* glad to know that my daughters are not the only ones to stockpile dirty clothes and rubbish. I asked SIC to tidy her room so that I could open her wardrobe doors and put the clean laundry away. She made a big space ... by raking the clutter to the sides. Which wasn't *exactly* what I'd meant.

/* Sigh */
I called Roofer #2's company and rescheduled for tomorrow, but found that he actually had called me before his appointment time to explain that he would be late, I didn't hear the phone ring because it was turned off. So instead of going into work I kept waiting. The woman at the office was supposed to call me back to let me know if he was still coming or not, but never did. And he hasn't shown up yet.
But Roofer #3, who was scheduled to arrive at 1:00 also has not shown up. . And I get a machine when I call his office. . And though I intended to work from home, I ended up fiddling with my Mac all day. So the day has been a total waste. I didn't even get my artwork assignment done.
I also have the Home Despot coming in to give me an estimate on Friday, I'm not inclined to use them, I just wanted to see if the other estimates were in line with what they estimate. Now it looks like I'll have to choose between the Despot and Roofer #1.
I will pay someone to smack roofers. Please provide references and salary requirements.

Oh and Hyp, maybe she saw McGruff at your library. Why don't you tell her that the local police provide Clifford costumes?

d'E, a staffer has reminded me that about 5 years ago we had someone in a Clifford costume on our float for the Christmas parade. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she is remembering that.
Or, I could suggest she call Smellfungus as she is at the police station a lot. I don't know if our PD has McGruff or not. But I'm going to find out. I like McGruff.

FG Posted Jul 13, 2005
That's right, Hyp! Sic an idiot on the smellfungus.
My day started off with three different people complaining about how much they hated our state's vacation guide and how useless it was, and what a waste of paper, and how we should be ashamed of ourselves, and X, Y and Z state does a MUCH better job with their publications, goddammit...but could I send them another?
Then right after that there was the person who wanted me to make a variety of personal phone calls in Montana for him--he lives in another state, and doesn't want a lot of long-distance charges on his phone bill. I told him, in so many words, to forget it.

Another two swim day today.
Tomorrow is my graduation do. I'm actually rather scared that I'll get there and they'll say 'what you?' don't be silly.

The outage was only about 2 and a half hours, but I became involved in scanning mint sheets for eBay, which I'll put up tonight.
There's a Fort Stanton Commission meeting on Saturday and it's going to be extremely interesting, because all the local people are going to have something to say, not only about the planned project but about the fact that the last two meetings were held out of town.
