No, it is not a joke. Sorry. Not. a. joke. Extremely dangerous to treat it as a joke.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church have been here in Missoula to protest this and that and I would not put that flyer past them. They are truly vile human beings who are probably celebrating the tsunami as we speak.

That flyer seems like many I saw growing up in my Rural community...nothing fake about those or this one.

I remember when Matt Hale was active in Missoula, FG. Remember all those "mud people" flyers on cars?

Some religious expression seems more akin to psychosis than... well, anything you might have thought a religion should stand for. With Christians like this, can the Inquisition be far behind?

Phelps and his gang get around, don't they? They even hit Webb City a few weeks back.

And, it is only fair to point out that some of the locals behaved as badly as did the Westboro bunch.
The kid who sparked all this has dropped out of school. It's gotten really nasty. Now the school district has accused him of making sexual overtures to other students, which he denies.

This poor kid's getting crucified. Is there a fund for him somewhere? There should be.
As for the sickos that are doing this to him, I would say burning churches is a bad thing, but...

I remember Matt Hale, MR. I think he's like the lone member of the World Church of the Creator now. Or maybe there's one other loser.

It has recently come to my attention that in the 2004 prediction thread I predicted that G W Bush would be re-elected. I apologise for my accuracy on this matter of prophecy.
I also said he would be assasinated before his inauguration, this has yet to pass.

I, for one, do not approve of killing the messenger, DD.
And thanks for reminding us of your prophecies. Gives us something to track.
I don't think the kid has a defense fund of any kind. The ACLU is representing him. Or was. He may have backed down. I was otherwise distracted and didn't keep up with the story as closely as I normally would have done.

Well, at the moment, Mr. Hale is in federal prison for conspiracy to commit the murder of a federal judge, so I'd guess it's hard to recruit members....
That's sad, Hypatia. Just sad.
The Office of Inquisition (officially, the Office for the Protection of the Faith) actually existed until Vatican II in 1968. Well, in name at least. But I think, Lil, that you're thinking of the state/church connection that existed in Spain. Most other inquisitions were local and didn't kill/torture nearly as many people as once thought. The Spanish Inquisition, on the other hand, was basically a state-sponsored method for getting rid of undesirable social elements (Jews, Muslims, hippy weirdos).

You're right. I have been reading a lot of stuff about Spain between 1000 and 1100 CE.
So the Republicans actually noticed all the bad publicity they were getting and have reversed their decision to allow indicted congresspersons to hold offices like House Speaker. But even if indicted, Tom deLay may continue to sit in the House and manipulate the process.
Key: Complain about this post
