Mind you, you get a lot more attention in Peer Review than you do on the Front Page, which can be a bit of a letdown.

Well done, Hati As a Dane, I'm a inclined to be a little disappointed that the Danish flag legend disappeared in the edited version - but oh, well... As good an occasion for

Ltp, they really are not entitled to charge me for electicity. NPower are, and do, and I payt them, but British Gas aren't.
However, every six months or so they decide that they are entitled to charge me, and send me bills for a couple of hundred quid. Then I phone up, and they say "ooops, sorry, no, you are quite right madam, we aren't entitled to charge you, it won't happen again". And I say "yeah, right". And six months later it does.
I think I am going to have to write formal letters to OfPower, or whoever the ombudsman is, and to the Customer Services departments of the company concerned.
I want audits!

KerrAvon, you may ignore the backlog, but don't say so in my presence!! At least you are responding to previous comments. Remember, your remark could be taken as rude by those who posted earlier, because you are effectively saying their comments aren't worth looking at.
Hootoo is being crazy. I couldn't log in, but I was able to go to my PS by direct link and found myself present. Then I posted and was logged out until I went to the front page to look at Hati's article. There I found myself logged in again. I sure hope this posts!

Ach, our comments really aren't worth looking at Lil. Just random burblings. I thought we had backlog exemption coupons and such, anyway?
I may have a result!
After making these phone calls every six months for the last two years, and asking them to initiate an enquiry each time, someone at British Gas finally volunteered to do just that without being asked. Also I have contacted EnergyWatch, and given them the details.
If British Gas don't get back to me within the week, then I can set EnergyWatch on them, apparently.
The two things that annoy me are (1) it makes it much trickier to rent the place out, imagine having to say to tenants "ignore any electricity bills from British Gas" and (2) it is just too bloody risky to change suppliers right now to get cheaper deals. The waters are muddy enough as it is.
Oh. And I am in an entirely separate discussion with NPower, asking them to audit the account on the meter that is mine. Partly as a result of all this crap, and partly as a result of entirely separate crap, the meter readings were subject to randomisation, with a consequent wierdness in how much I've been billed.

Yea Hati!
Utility companies are always evil. And staffed by incompetents. We are still being billed monthly for an outside light that was on our parking lot - where a building now stands. I get the bill, call the electric company, explain the situation, (the pole was taken down last March!)and am promised that if I will pay the charges one more time, a credit will be issued. Then the next bill comes in and it's still there. It's only $8.95 a month, but that will buy a trade paperback for my YA readers or a board book for my wee tykes. And it's ripping off the taxpayers.

Sorry Lil- on the plus side, at least I was being honest.
Last time the gas man wanted to read our meter I told him he could, but only if he moved the wardrobe, as I had a busted rib. He sulked off muttering something about estimated readings. Definite result, one feels.
