Merica *is* a weird country to me.
I have to drag my hurting back to someones car before the sun rises and go to field work. It's still stormy out there and all I can think of doing is sleeping. Snow is expected later today.

> To which I replied that when he decided to stop being an a$$, I would stop being smart...
Heh... reminds me of when I was little, and my father told me to stop being a smart-mouth. I said, in my best idiot tongue-tied lisp, "Okay, Daddy, I won't be smart no more." He laughed (fortunately).
Let's see... This weekend, we got the grill out and roasted in the rain. I was in the kitchen, prepping food and trying to mop up the mud that we tracked in, and I look out the window to witness this conflagration. My hubby has put all the chicken on the fire at once, which starts dripping fat onto the coals, which then flared up and shot plumes of flame everywhere. I ran out with a pitcher of water and we started trying to put the fire out. It gave this wonderful roasted flavor to everything - the sausage, the chicken, and the roasted veggies got all black and smokey. We finished the chicken in the oven, and had it for dinner - it was simply delicious. Carbon makes a wonderful seasoning.
I made tomato soup, jumbalaya, roasted chicken, green beans with garlic, roasted yams, and peanut-butter banana bread this weekend. Then we ate most of it so I didn't have much in the way of leftovers... sigh.

Mornin' all.
Going to have a busy few days. Off to Oxford this arvo to talk to a bloke who wants a website. Someone nicked my coloured pens, I had a nice set but they've gone. Still, I 'spect we'll manage.
Then up to Brum for a bit of tender loving medication, and tomorrow up to Halifax to flat-hunt.
Can I go back to bed, please?

Wasn't me who nicked the pens. Probably the same person who nicked my fountain pen.
Good luck this afternoon
I'm teaching the third year students this morning, so I've actually prepared a lesson plan, because all the third years in my group are on the graduate course, so I don't get respect just for being a final year.
Also prepareing a tutorial makes me revise what I need to revise. I just hope they'll show up for it!

A bright and sunny day here. I've had 8 hours sleep for the first time in two weeks. I've only got the cough left from a very insisting 6 week virus making the muscles ache and the brain work like cold porridge. And tadada...the union magazine I'm writing all the articles for (first deadline last friday with still 7 pages/10-12 articles to go) has been postponed in production - so now - a new first deadline tomorrow. I'll make it in time.

Grey and damp. I wish it was bright and sunny here, though the forecasters say it will be like that by the weekend, with a cold snap to bring it. It would be good as we might be able to get the telescope out to look at the stars in the sky.

Sun's been out here - and is promised to be for most of the day. Hmmmm - wonder what the largish gray things in the sky are
Would love to have your weekend forecast applied here, Paul - here they promise cold, windy, with rain or probably snow.
Guess who's going on a scouting weekend?

B4 - very flattered you went and looked up Agapanthus .
Z - I think it's a fountain pen epidemic - my darling expensive Waterman 18th Birthday present has not been seen for a week and I'm getting fretful, though common sense tells me it's almost certainly under the bookshelves or at the back of a drawer.
Morning to everyone else too. It's grey and glum here in London, and not very warm, but not frosty or snowy or any such romantic and exciting weather.

Still grey and damp here in Surrey. Non weather really.
The Mystery of the Disappearing Writing Implements had me checking up of the whereabouts of my beloved Parker 51: can't find it

I lost a Waterman fountain pen which I got for my birthday as well
Well actually my Dad got it for his Birthday and didn't want it, so it mysteriously turned into my birthday present.

How strange. I can't locate a package of hilighters I bought last week.
Most people whine about Mondays. Wellllllllll, let me tell you. Tuesdays are the pits in my life. This morning I have to go in early and do payroll. Then I have the weekly slugfest with the architects and contractors. (We have a new city guy who has been put in charge of the project. He's wonderful! He plans to immediately kick a**. ) Then I have to go to the hospiotal for a few hours. And I get to end the day with a board meeting at 6:30.
Matina, an extra large cinnamon bun, please.

Inspired by Hati's remark about Merica being a weird country, I came to think of the radio ad currently running for the panto (mentioned a LED or a few back) here in Copenhagen. Goes something like
"Last year we took you to Transylvania, ruled by bloodthirsty psychopaths [they did Dracula last year, ed]. This year we'll take you to America which is - ... - well, not much different, really"
All good-natured humour of course -though maybe not exactly "good clean family entertainment you can trust" as 70%+ of the jokes are rather

Writing instruments...
The printers here in the office still seem to work
I know where my fountain pen is. I don't have any ink to fill it with or any great need to write with it though
