I've finally put tartaronne's and hati's charts up -- link can be found at A304354.
Just watched a 2-hour program about the young man who cut off his arm after being trapped for six days at the bottom of a narrow canyon in southeastern Utah. I feel harrowed.

I classify Ralston as the toughest hombre alive. That guy is amazing.

Aron Ralston. And that canyon he was trapped in, bluejohn Canyon, was astoundingly beautiful.

Very pretty, but apparently not very kind. But man, didn't he use something like a swiss army knife? That's some guts there.

Only 15 more tests to grade, and I'm done with the evilness that was my class this quarter. Okay. Not evil. Just not the brightest crayons in the box, if you know what I mean.
Next quarter, I finally get to teach my area of expertise again. I am so excited...I have all sorts of very cool things planned for it...like watching a portion of Holy Grail and having them spot the historical accuracies/inaccuracies.
*hangs head in shame*
yes, yes indeed. I did take a giant step over the backlog. Sorry.

The puppies look really cute, Kelli. Sounds as if Patsy is going to live up to her namesake ,)
I'm glad you have made your decision, Teuchter, you must feel relieved for having done it. Sons seem to be much slower at the whole growing up thing these days, No2 son excepted.

Morning everyone!
I decided to go up the M1 in the end, not much further, and just a case of 'point and shoot'. If I go via the M6 I also have to go on the M60 and the M62.
Had a good weekend in the end, managed to discuss some tricky stuff with a friend and the air is significantly cleared. But boy did it take some effort getting through by phone. Freddie seems to have been shutting down international communications at random. And, yes, Teuchter, it does make a huge difference once decisions have been taken and you can really plan.
I have decided to sell the flat, probably in 2006, maybe sooner, and am considering places to move to. Currently considering Bristol or Glasgow, but am open to suggestions. I want somewhere not too big (500,000 is ideal, and both of those are bigger than that), within an hour of an international airport, reasonable motorways (ha ha!), a good cultural life, and access to decent countryside. Glasgow is nudging ahead, but I am planning on doing a very part-time MSc in Bristol, and would have to spend 6 weekends a year there. The other option is actually here in West Yorkshire; if I got the chance to work here permanently I would seriously consider it.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening...
Couldn't see the pics - firewall problems I expect.
Good to hear the inflow of good news from various salonistas.

Have now collected Xmas pressies for extended family, but, god help me, did not have the strength to actually wrap them up. So tonight...
Had a nice outing on Saturday with dinner at an old friend's house. Calculated that I've known the host and one of the guests for nearly 20 years, which is quite impressive for people I didn't go to school with. The bizzare thing is that as our freindship was always based on getting together at very infrequent interavals, it was easier to pick up with them than other people back here who I have technically spent more contact time with over the years. Eaqually bizarly came the realisation that we are, for the first time, living within regular socialising distance. Woohoo.
And I can now play the digeredoo. For about five seconds.
Like your plan, Amy! And the xmas cards thing is a great idea, but I'm not sure you'll get actual pictures form me. I shall compose an impressive message instead, or borrow one of the ribald Xmas carol variations that D was composing at this party on Saturday for your amusement...

Have returned from blasted uncle's blasted wedding with horrible too-sore-to-talk throat, swollen glands, and a tendency to lurch into furniture when I stand up. Urgh.
Uncle made unutterable of himself.
Will tell all when I feel less

The M1 is always a much better bet than the M6 I find. The M60 is a nightmare, I mean why build a section of motorway below the surface of an area with a very high water table and then wonder why it floods? The less said about the M62 the better.
Still the tree was purchased and decorated at the weekend and mince pies were baked. I even got to the second round of patching up the hole in the wall I made earlier this year.

Nååååårrrrrh [Danish equivalent of ooohhs and aaaahs] for the puppies...
and to Teuchter and Marv and to B with finding a place. I'd choose Glasgow - but that's just because I'm rather taken with Scottish accents
(I believe I have forgotten a few comments wading through the b'log)
I'll add a Christmas card design to my todo list - with luck it'll happen before Christmas. Some year ... Just had a look in the calendar - we're booked solidly for something or other between now and Dec 22.... *sighs*

All of you with your Christmas plans are making me hang my head in shame. I am definitely in a humbug mood. My sis is coming today, which means she won't be coming back in 2 weeks, which means no great-nephews for Christmas. Number one son is still planning to breeze by a few days before Christmas on his way to Connecticut to see his sister. It will just be Mother and me staring at each other on Christmas day and a trip to the nursing home to try to be jolly and hohoho for F's benefit.

I'm feeling awfully Bah Humbug at the moment, too Hyp I went shopping in the city centre yesteday and nearly vomited.
I have to admit I've always looked forward to being able to work over Christmas. I have a feeling it won't be that difficult to end up doing that shift!

, Hypatia.
Kelli, those puppies are too cute!
My older daughter also just turned 18 on November 28. So, that's three of us with 18 year olds. What are the odds of that? Anyone else in this exclusive club?
