Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Dec 11, 2004
I know the fashion is for minimalism these days but that's just plain daft. It's never occurred to me to eat the walls of my home before. Where would I put the sofas? The colour matches my computer though .
And I don't have three eyes! I have two compound eyes and three light receptors called ocelli, so strictly speaking I suppose I have five eyes.
And I have three stomachs - although some ants only have the two. It might explain why I currently have dreadful wind. You might want to keep your distance. I knew those sausages were a mistake .

I know what you mean about being rebuffed when trying to give blood. Because we spent two-and-one-half years in Iceland, which coincided with the European ‘mad cow disease’ scare, the Red Cross won’t touch our blood. Something to do with not having an effective method of detection, as it may lay dormant in a human for an entire lifetime. Well, I wouldn’t want to pass on any tainted blood, yet I’d like to participate in my company’s program to give each year, like I used to do for many years beforehand.
Amy, you are a ~hoot~!
Blue Bird is doing an article for the Edited Guide about the Wright Brothers' first flight. I've always thought it was one of the events in history that changed the shape of our future. It'll be interesting to read it. I’ve asked her to notify when she’s done the draft and when it gets published.
This morning has been fairly busy, though in a non-strenuous way. I've been tidying up the computer room, shifting our 'light reading' books down to the bookshelf in the billiards room of the walk-out basement. This is in an effort to leave the more 'serious' reading material, like our self-help and reference books, as the mainstay on the two long shelves. I've also shuffled around the books in our youngest daughter's room, keeping those that are more appropriate for her age and reading skills (plus a few to challenge her), and taking the teen and the craft/activity books downstairs, as well. The shelves in the game room have filled up and the shelves in our rooms have practically organized themselves in the process.
My wife, A----, has been working on the holiday decorations over the past week and has still been busy this morning. She spent about an hour determining which bulbs were blown out in two garlands of white lights. She then enlisted my aid in draping the whole affair over the tall stand-up entertainment center in the living room. It's a pretty cool effect with the room lights turned off and the clusters of white lights running along its fringe. We were able to gauge its merit because it's been a gray and dreary day here in Mid-MO, perfect for indoor activities.
We're planning to have a really big blaze going in the fireplace in the game room, later this evening. We'll want to wind down with some hot toddies and sit for some chit-chat while the flames gradually wind down, too, to become embers. That should be a romantic way to end the day.
[NOTE to Self: Ensure the little tot is tucked into bed ~early~ so we won't be disturbed.]

Witty Moniker Posted Dec 12, 2004
*waves back to d'E*
There are no tigers left at the Tiger Lady's residence. They all werre moved to a sanctuary in Texas. A couple had to be euthanized due to illness but the rest are gaining weight and doing well.
That case dragged on in the courts for nearly 5 years after it was discovered that she was not caring properly for the animals.
The Moniker residence is now properly decorated for Christmas. The was retrieved from the farm this morning and all the seasonal stuff was hauled down from the attic and dispersed around the house. I'm exhausted.

Teuchter Posted Dec 12, 2004
I'm just back from an evenings entertainment in London. It was Mr T's firm's Xmas Party - in a marquee on the embankment. The food was good, we danced and I'm exhausted - from being nice all evening without the assistance of alcohol, since I was driving home.
Even at 1.00am, driving in central London is not easy - and was complicated by the fact that my navigator was half-pi**ed and neither of us had a clue where we were going.
We're home safely now though, unscathed and looking forward to 'dealing' with the Christmas cards tomorrow.
Speaking of which, did anyone notice my half-baked idea about an off-site location for us to post Christmas cards to the Salon - or was it just a pants idea?
Just for the record - I sewed mine in cross-stitch and it's a robin sitting on a twiggy thing. Inside, I wrote in gold ink...To my Good Friends in Lil's Atelier, Wishing you all a Very Happy Christmas and Peace, Health and Prosperity in 2005, Many thanks for your friendship, humour and commonsense, Love from Teuchter.

Family Christmas party tonight, much fun as usuall. This year the pinata was a snowman, as opposed to Santa Claus, once again, the kids managed a decapitation. I don't know what it is about kids in my family and decapitating pinatas.

Teuchter, that's a brilliant idea! I need to have a quick consult with Amy.
*several CLI bots enter from the service lift, carrying an artificial tree. It is made from some CLI hybrid of fiberoptics and luminescent squid, and its base consists of the photon fountain that Professor Tonks gave Lil several years ago, together with a color wheel*
*the result is a 7-foot tree whose branches pulsate with beautiful colors like a cuttlefish, colors which also spray out of the twigs and wash the room*
Since the adventure from last year is unfinished, the one where we returned the live tree, I thought we might go fake this year. We will add decorations in the next thread. Right now, the important question is, where do we put it?

Morning B . ?
I've just done my daugther's paper round - she attended an 18th birthday 100 km. south of here last night.
with interviews GDZ and MtG, crossed fingers for Z.
Amy, I hope your decision makes you feel good.
I'll just do a bit of work, an introduction to a series of articles about social research I've written for a magazine, practise music with S. (husband) - we're are playing at a christmas-open-by-night do in our village next friday - and then we are going with out son to an interview at a school he wants to attend next year.
That should fill my day

Sounds like you've got some good ideas about where you're going there Amy
We had a fire in for most of the day yesterday. We now need to go out and get more fuel (and I probably should get off here and start lighting the fire again...). Our brief foray into getting a tree to decorate was unsuccesful as MC likes to get a live tree rather than a cut tree. Another go today I think.
We did have a good clear dark night and managed to get the scope out and look out for a comet (can be seen in binoculars at the moment) as well as some of the other shiny pretty things in the night sky. The evening ended with the sighting of a few gemenid meteors as well

Don't tell the OU, but I am giving them a sonnet I wrote last year. I did try re-working a couple of existing poems into sonnets, but there is a limit to what a girl can do on a day when she has to face the M6.
