I really wish I had more than a week for this. It's fascinating. It's like studying Navajo history and culture backwards.
That said, I'm still halfway listening, and halfway surfing the web

Snow here in Leeds. Looked rather heavy from inside the shop, but nothing settled.
Speaking of work, I'd like to mention a piece of retail brilliance: You may notice that shops will introduce products at a high price and then drop them to "half price". In our case the store is often judged by how much of the "half price" stuff they manage to shift. Well we had tubs of mini Oreos (which by the way are surprisingly small, I expected more a Cheddars/Mini Cheddars relationship) flying off the shelves at the higher price. This week they're one of the "half price" things we're meant to sell. However, the price actually changed on Friday, so I dutifully stuck some "half price" stickers on the display.
Come this morning I noticed all the stickers had been taken down. It turns out that we didn't want people to buy too many in case we ran out of them before today, when we are being judged on how many we sell.
In summary we deliberately tried not to sell stuff, because it might make us look bad on the spreadsheet.

> 'How do they dig the graves when the ground is frozen?'
I always thought they waited until the ground wasn't frozen - kept them in the freezer. But people die all year, so that doesn't make sense!

Hear, hear!
I plan on donating as much of me as science will take, and they can cremate the rest.

Is "composted" an option? That would appeal to me.

*a cacophony of pans, metal against metal and the grinding of gears can be heard from the kitchen. a few moments later SE sprints out from the doorway underneath a large, intricately detailed cake; matina can be seen smoking and fuming in the door frame before conceding defeat and seemingly sulking back into the kitchen*
*SE places the cake on a table, brushes himself off and places 3X candles on the three tiered cake (chocolate with raspberry filling on the base, lemon with custard filling on the second tier and white chocolate with huckleberry filling on top)*
happy birthday, FG!!
- here you go, just what you've always wanted.

Here, FG, I got you this from the trading post up the road. A traditional Navajo rug, in whatever colors match your living room (or equivalent).
Key: Complain about this post
