Good day planned - my Dad is taking us out to lunch. Belfast's hippest chef is Michael Deane, and he has a place at the University, so it's called Deanes at Queens. We were making sure that everyone's dietary rquirements could be catered for, so we wondered if they did beans at Deanes at Queens...

Daughter has been reheasing Defying Gravity all week as she has to sing it an audition today...

And I have a big pot of irish stew on the stove, for I have invited friends round this evening to watch the Irish chose this year's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest - one of the finalists is Dustin the Turkey.

Oh, and I think there's a rugby match on this afternoon. smiley - stout

My entire day is being devoted to the rugby, as the rugby has taken over the entire day on the Beeb. Six Nations is one of my absolute must-sees. So I am seeing it. There is smiley - ale in the fridge, and bread and cheese in the larder, and rank upon rank of huge great straining muscular thighs on the telly. What more could a girl want? smiley - winkeye

Just skipped through the 500+ post backlog! Congrats to Sol and hope Marv gets better soon. Sorry if I've missed anything else I should have taken note of!

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

Got a surprise last night, my cousin is in town from Oregon.

Blimey caught up with the backlog. Trying to scribe it at the same time slows things down. Anyway, I'm off to play poker in a bit (just a friendly, low stakes game, no gambling away my life savings) and have made cinamon shortbread to take with me. Hope it worked - the mixture wouldn't stick together so I used a bit of milk, not in the recipe.

My mum's bought me a book called The Beatles Greats for Organ. Unfortunately my electric keyboard does not have the two sets of keys and footpedals required to play the songs as arranged. Nevertheless, if you hear "smiley - musicalnote Can't buy me loo-oh b****r wrong note," coming down the corridor you know who's to blame.

I heard about that Dustin the Turkey thing on the radio this morning. They can't be serious? Can they?
It was on the awful side of terribly dire.

Dustin it is!

Totally dire it may be, and completely disprespectful of Ireland's proud history on Euroviz (most times winner)

BUT

all the other finalists were rubbish

AND

it was the only one that had the now compulsory preformance showbiz chutzpah.

Will you specialize in tribal law, Irv? A good acquaintance of mine does tribal law in Mescalero, and has represented the tribe at meetings I've attended. An interesting woman who made the decision to become a tribal lawyer after her kids were grown.

Hi everyone! I'm currently posting from the Murray Hotel in Livingston, Montana. I'm on my way back home tomorrow. I've been on a winter tour of Yellowstone for the past four days (entirely work-related, but still a complete blast). I've seen so many bison, elk, tourists, deer, coyotes, tourists, eagles, bighorn sheep, tourists...I even saw a pack of wolves today! smiley - magic

I've got pictures of all, except for the wolves. They were too far away for my camera to capture. They looked like little black specks at the base of the mountains until someone loaned me their binoculars. They were absolutely awesome!

Congrats, Sol! smiley - bubbly I might have missed it in the backlog, but have you chosen a name for your lad yet?

It's on the list. Is there an off-season for tourists?
I look forward to seeing some photos, FG.

... still think Dustin the Turkey sounds like something an overzealous farmer would do ...

I am writing an essay today. Well, supposed to be writing. I haven't actually started yet and it is gone 10. Ah well. I think I have the structure worked out in my head, but I am a bit stymied by the fact that I don't really understand a bit of the central text's theory. Mind you, since all of the other texts I've had to read which mention it don't really explain it, I am beginning to wonder if anyone does...

Name is tentatively that of Napolean Solo's Russian partner in the man from UNCLE. I am debating whether to admit that this is the actial inspiration as well as a description, but will swear blind to most people that he's actually named after a figure from Russian folklaw.

Unless we come up with a better idea. Short Russian boy's names anyone?

Also quite jealous of Yellowstone.

Yellowstone is fab. Can't really believe that it is coming on 17 years since we saw that. Must be me unable to calculate...

Sunday. Lazyish. Just filled rye bread dough in the forms for baking this afternoon. Has read most of the Sunday paper. And 14 is ironing my shirts smiley - biggrin

Brownies and Girl Guides were around a long time, but Scouts and Air Cadets only arrived in the village of my youth about 3 years after I left the parental domicile. I really would have enjoyed that stuff ... Instead, I just gave 21 years to our military. One compensates. smiley - laugh

I rather like The Man from UNCLE's Russian friend's name. Hmmm. It's a good name.

As for other suitable possibilies, don't ask me. I have the worstest luck with names. Whatever I think is lovely and suitable morphs into bitterly ironic within a month. I once named a kitten 'Terence' because I thought it the loveliest, most romantic name in the world and I just HAD to give it to something. Terence. And then I met a bazillion people called Terry. Despite the Pratchetts and other delightful Terries of this world, I can't remove the mental image of the thirteen-year-old public-nose-picker who was known as 'Towelling' because of his unfortunately sweaty hands and habit of wiping them dry on every available piece of fabric, including the girls' school blouses. While said bloses where in situ, obviously. Oh, and Terence Trent D'Arby.

Terence the kitten grew into a boot-faced battle-scarred semi-feral Tom who fathered some seventeen generations of kittens on his own sisters. This is apparantly normal for farm cats. Oy vey.

And I DON'T, for flippin' once, have an essay to do this weekend! Hurrah! And yes, I am eating egg and bacon butties in my pyjamas! Double hurrah! And when I have eaten them, I shall make coffee and go back to bed with a good book! Triple hurrah!

*Nevertheless, wishes she, too, could go to Yellowstone and look at wolves*.
