Can we really trust an historian to know her history? I mean really....

Ooh, that's a tribe I hadn't heard of before. I thought the bright colors were unusual and beautiful.

Vegetarians, cover your eyes... I've eaten dead frog too, but actually I rather liked it. Reptiles and amphibians tend to taste like a combination of beef and chicken - alligator, frog, and rattlesnake all taste similar. I've also had rabbit, squirrel and dove. And elk, and moose, and buffalo. (Eating my way through the animal kingdom, I guess.)

I don't know whether dancers mix from the different nations when they have their big powwows, but the Navajo res is at the Four Corners -- the intersection of NM, AZ, UT and CO.

We went there when i was a little chillun, and watched the pow-wow for the touristas. It was pretty cool - at least when I was a child.

Right, I am off to do research for B's wedding aniversary present. I need a camel. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to find stuffed toy camels, so I am starting a week and a half in advance.

This could be my last day of posing here. smiley - yikes I have a concert tonight, and at last night's rehearsal, the musical director threatened to kill the altos and the tenors.

David, the music director said *what* !?

*rolls up sleeves and inhales deeply, then remembers she has to complete the VAT returns this weekend and exhales*

You tell him that if he damages one feather on your brain (huh, that didn't sound quite right..), he will have all the Salonistas to deal with.

smiley - cross *mutter* Imagine that, threatening sweet-voiced owls in this day and age *mutter*

There was so much I was going to comment on - from the wonderful Bowman Lake and scweeming wabbits to Danish expeditions, humourless colleagues and new jobs...

Ag - I've always thought of your hair as being pre-raphaelite - the kind I always wanted smiley - envy
The goodvibe machine is sending waves in your direction in anticipation of Thursday smiley - cuddle

My RFA has been really awful over the past few days. The drugs aint working and I've been cancelling wo*k committments left, right and centre. The one good thing is that the TENS machine is brill - especially now I've found the button that makes the current more intense.

And now - I'm going to water next door's greenhouse. I've forgotten to do it since they left for France last Tuesday and hope things are still alive.

Teuchter, I'm sorry you're having so much pain. smiley - hugsmiley - stiffdrink Let's hope the medication starts working soon.

Z, I took a peek and housing prices in Blackpool seem fairly reasonable compared to most of the UK. And being near the sea will be nice. Are you going to rent your house in Brum or sell it?

My hair is so soft and fine that it is really hard to get it to look decent. I'd love to have hair like Ag's.

Another frog legs eater here. But only once. And they were cooked with lemon butter so all I tasted was the lemon. Come to think of it, when I ate snails, all I tasted was the lemon. I wonder if my tastebuds are abnormally sensitive to lemon? Lentilla, the large HEB in SA used to have alligator and rattlesnake for sale, but I was never brave enough to buy it

I've heard that alligator, snake and iguana taste like chicken. So why not just eat chicken?

Quickly passing through, ... I had frog-legs on skewers once and quite enjoyed. As I do escargots in a garlic butter. Hey, if my tummy digests and the taste-buds agree, I'm not adverse to anything, really. No sacred beasts or fowl to me when it comes to dinner time. smiley - biggrin

David, don't let that choir director touch you. smiley - cross We have something here at the atelier called the Continuity Squad, and he would not want to tangle with it.

Re guns, some people might find my latest journal entry a good place for discussion...

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

Clever kitty! Isn't it Kerr's dog who has also mastered this trick?

smiley - hug for Teuchter, blasted RFA. If these drugs don't work are there others?

Z - so will you be seeing endless hen-/stag- party-related-incidents?

Ag, thinking of you for Thursday - saw many of your relatives at the show. You are quite en vogue.

Had a lovely day at the flower show yesterday - it had dried out enough that I could have worn sandals! I went prepared for adverse weather so the sunshine caught us by surprise, and the boy has a touch of sunburn. I'm a Bad Mother for not realising he was getting burnt through the clouds - the actual sunshine was kept off him but I didn't notice him being exposed when it wasn't blazing down. Ah well, it isn't too bad and isn't bothering him...

Three of us went with babies and all three were very well behaved. It was our bigget day out to date and we're now confident enough to try other trips further afield smiley - ok

Lentilla smiley - bigeyes That is a sh1tload of rain!

Hoorah Kelli. I'm glad to hear the trip to the flower show went ok. We've got tickets for the one at Tatton Park in a few weeks time. I hope we can pick up some ideas and possibly some plants.

How interesting, the assumptions people make about gender... The musical director contemplating multiple homicide is a lady.

I am semi-excited about the Tour de France, which will whizz past the end of my road at some point tomorrow. smiley - nahnah

I only have osteoarthritis and ibuprophen takes pretty good care of that so I can only imagine what Teuchter is going through. smiley - hug Hope the meds, etc., kick in soon.

Frog legs, deep fat fried, are considered a delicacy out here. I like them. Lord C. tolerates them, but would rather have something else. We have also eaten alligator, rattlesnake, escargot, crawfish, oysters, crabs, rabbit, and squirrel...........The only thing I didn't care for was the squirrel. We have a glut of venison every year, since son-in-law bow hunts. My favorite meat is still fried chicken--in spite of all the oddities I have tried. Guess that is the hillbilly in me........smiley - smiley

Son-in-law is part Mexican so he makes us dishes from his culture on occasion. The only things he fixes that I absolutely cannot eat is tongue and menudo. (He only fixed them for us to try.) smiley - yuk

I've had alligator and rattlesnake both at a Brazilian steak house. I did not care for either. No snails for me, thanks, or frog. I imagine that amphibians taste fishy like alligator. No thanks.

To me they taste like a cross between fish and chicken. If you don't care for fish, you wouldn't like them.
Turtle, anyone? We've eaten that too. A friend of ours has had turtle fries in the past. He catches big snapping turtles all summer long--either keeps them in a tank or cleans and freezes the meat. In the fall, he and his friends get a bunch of outdoor deep fat fryers together, bread the turtle and deep fry it. I've been told there are nine different kinds of meat on a turtle. I have no way of proving or disproving this, but fried turtle rocks!! smiley - biggrin
