I am still developing a taste for curries. I have not had all that many. One of these days I will try out one of the curry shops in SLC. Till then I will stick with Thai or Chinese food.

Many thanks for those links, Ben. I knew I hadn't gone off the deep end. At least not on this issue. Methinks we have a case of British English vs. American English vs. curry leaves vs. the curry plant vs. curry, the meal.
I have had some very good curries (i.e. the dish). I can make a mean potato and pea curry. I serve it over basmati rice with raita (the cucumber/yogurt sauce) on the side.

Aloo Sag? Yummy!
I tend to eat vegetarian in Indian restaurants, because they do it so well...
Tarka dahl - creamy curried chickpeas - the ultimate comfort food!

UK vs US English is always an issue. Take for example the word "pissed" is a much better thing to be pissed in England than in America...

Most curries in the the UK would not be thought of as such in India. If you want a proper curry, befriend someone who lives in a place like Southall, or who knows a good restaurant there.
I got taken to one - I'd been eating curries for years, but I had no idea that there actually was a vegetable called sag because most Indian restaurants use spinach. I had a proper sag dish (or is it saag?).

Not much to say about Curry or Shrek 2, I'm afraid. Not seen it yet.
I remember when the first Shrek came out. Someone suggested that we make Shrek the official movie of the Atelier.

Didn't Wolfgang have a curry on the menu? Is there any left?
I have read the backlog, and like Sherlock Holmes, promptly forgotten it. Only so much room in this noggin of mine.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted May 25, 2004
The fire got a LOT worse today. Governor Richardson flew over and then went home and phoned the president (of the US) to ask him to let the tankers fly. My friend Nora came round and we alternated watching episodes of The West Wing with going out back to look at the clouds of white and black smoke all tinged with orange from the flames below. Late this afternoon it looked a lot like we had a volcano out beyond the Capitans. Apparently a number of homes have been burned and we've completely lost the town of Espinoza (pop. 1).
The firs has now burned along the crest of the mountains and descended to the grasslands, and some of the firefighters think it's possible that this fire (known as the Peppin Fire) could meet up the the big fire currently burning in Corona.
Media are all over the place. On our way to dinner, Nora and I stopped at a prominent place to admire the clouds of smoke when suddenly an SUV pulled over with a squeal of tires. Out got a cameraman and anchorwoman from Channel 13 in Albuquerque, who proceeded to interview me, a Concerned Citizen, with the spectacular smoke billows behind me. Trust me, the grounded tankers that haven't been replaced, THEY are the focus of the story.
I need to download all the pics I took today.

Man... too many dams on the Colorado river. The western states weren't this dry twenty years ago. If the fire gets too near your house, Lil, you can always set out the sprinklers and keep your house wet.
Ya'll need to quit talking about curry. I just love curry - and all Indian food - especially the creamed spinach thing with rice and toasted goat cheese.

Lil, is this not the area that we got Smokey the Bear from? I thought he was from somewhere in NM.

The reason I am not commenting on the fire situation is that it leaves me with nothing to say. I think horrified is the first word. Lil, I am very moved by your posts.
If saag is not-spinach, then what is the peas and potatoes dish called? That is going to bug me, and I will probably have to eat Indian on Wednesday to check!
Did I tell y'all that my friend who bred Archer and Aitken is on the case for finding them a new home, and that they will probably be going in a couple of weeks? I will miss them very much, particularly if my other plans go pear-shaped and I end up being home-alone for a while.

I have never been close to a forest fire, although we do get heathland fires occasionally in this area. I would be terrified and running round like a headless chicken, no doubt, in a panic about family, the and photos. My Oz relatives have all had very close shaves with fires and just seem to take it in their stride.
If I could take Archer and Aitken, Ben, I would like a shot. But Cassie is more than enough for H. She is unbelievably cheeky, if she is in when we go to bed, she waits on the landing windowsill and as soon as I go into the bathroom she leaps on to the bed, snuggles down and pretends to be asleep. It is then a struggle to get her off the bed as she pretends to nip and grabs as much of the duvet in her claws as possible and drags most of it with her when I try to pick her up.
Night before last H was up late working, when he came up Cassie had managed to get back in after I had gone to sleep, after one abortive attempt to evict Cassie he left her on the bed, as he didn't want to wake me when the duvet was dragged off. I woke briefly a couple of times to hear her gently purring.
Now, on other nights if I had woken up I would have been awake for sometime before going back to sleep, if at all, so perhaps she knows I need purr therapy to help me sleep! Trouble is she takes up too much room on the bed. Perhaps we should get a bigger US sized bed instead of our UK size double, then there would be room for us all!
