The only problem with daycare, if they have it, in the school is how early I have to drop the kids off.

Zomnker, you may be able to find someone who can help you get the kids to the bus in the morning, and then to an afterschool program. Witty's suggestions are all the ones I would make. I'm lucky, since my daughter is in a program that is run out of our community center, and there's a bus in the morning and in the afternoon. And that bus in the morning gets MY butt out of bed!
So, a couple of friends of mine and I have all made a pact to make it to the gym. One of them is dating a personal trainer who is going to work with us for free, and set us all up with individualized programs. So maybe I can wear this dress for the wedding in August after all...

Well, that's it for the backlog. Read the entire thread. No problem.

That's very cute, MR, but can you wear yellow? I thought you were a sage green girl.

It won't be yellow, it will be sort of this darker copper color.
But I talked to the bride, and she said given that it's an evening wedding in a cathedral, it's a little more formal than your average summer wedding. So I'm figuring that since no one I know besides her is getting married any time soon, well, what the hell? Might as well go formal.

Just looking in, in the middle of a profoundly boring day. At least I have a good book to read.

The dress is lovely MR.
I do wish someone had told me how disgusting soya yoghurt is! I thought I would try eating more soy products for the phytothingies that are supposed to be so helpful for ladies of around my age. That yoghurt was vile, it left a powdery sort of aftertaste and ruined the fruit I had chopped up to eat with it

*Slowly comes to.*
Well, I must say that the backlog was first rate. That discussion on education was excellent.
One point in the backlog I would like to add my to. I drive an SUV in the city. We just bought it in November and it's the first SUV we've ever had. We just love it. When we bought it, we were considering it, and a Toyota Camry. Both were about the same price, and both got the same gas mileage. We chose the SUV because of several reasons:
1) We have to drive in the winter. I personally hate driving in the winter because even though I can handle a car in a skid, other drivers can't and besides, if the skid is on ice, it ~can't~ be controlled. All of which means that on some days in the winter, I'm scared sh*tless driving. Driving a heavier SUV, with 4-wheel drive, eases that a little.
2) We have a kid. The SUV is way roomier. QED.
3) Visibility is way better in the SUV, both for us looking out and for others looking at us. This makes us feel alot safer.
So, even though this SUV will never go off-road, it is definately the most suitable vehicle for us.

I just read about that on neil Gaiman's website.
Did anyone see the story the other day about the man who was prosecuted under anti-terror legislation because the police couldn't prove he was plotting to kill his wife? http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationworld/bal-te.ricin20apr20,0,1607584.story?coll=bal-nationworld-headlines

Oh for heaven's sake. If that isn't a first amendment issue, then I'm a Martian. If it had been a GI holding a stick with Saddam's head do you think the school would have called in the feds?
Reminds me of an incident here. A 15 year old kid was fooling around one day with the copy machine. He took a five dollar bill and enlarged it to the maximum size the copier would enlarge. Then he took magic markers and colored it bright colors. Someone called the police and the kid was arrested for counerfeiting. He was sent to juvenile hall and was put in counselling. I know about it because juvenile services called me and asked me to let him work as a page after school. In no way was he trying to pass the five off as real money. It's crazy.

GL, your winters are entirely different to ours and so are your roads. Even the parking spaces are twice the size than here in the UK, SUVs/4x4s are rarely necessary in this part of the UK. Yes, there is quite a lot of 'countryside' in Surrey, surprisingly, but only short stretches of road become impassable for a few hours before the gritting lorry arrives. I think if pressed most women driving them would say it was because of the high driving postion and that they are less likely to be cut up by another car than in a standard car.
Personally, I like being lower down and my one complaint about the Blue Angel is that the seat doesn't go any lower. If someone tries to cut me up, I either stick firmly to my driving line or, preferably, feed them a bollard .
