Am having a bit of an ethical dilemma. The X is currently in self-destructive mode, and a whole slew on information has come my way because we are still, in the eyes of the law, married (although thankfully the paperwork was processed before the onset of the destruction!). I am seriously considering calling his military CO and trying to see if they can help him, but am unsure if that is a bad thing to do.
Actually, PWM, is that a major faux pas? Something definitely not done, or is that something that I should do? Or, really, do they not care?

I think I've caught up with the b/log. Nice pictures Ag and Scrumph.
All I can say is can't you spell Strelitzia either Ag
Now I must remember to go back to somewhere around post 1700 to look at Z and Wilma's photos.
Now must do something with mine...
Happy birthday Hyp, sorry it's a bit late. Good to hear that you're back safely.
One of our neighbours have just bought a wisteria (in flower, to prove it does flower at least once) to grow up the front of the house. Us we just have a rose growing up round the front door. Not out yet but there are plenty of buds ready to go nearer summer.

There is some lovely blue and white wisteria at uni, my parents' retirement home to be has a 30+ year old specimin, with a large trunk, growing up the front of it-looks impressive.
Dissertating, as it's due in in 13 1/2 hours

I willpass on best wishes to LibrarianPear. Current situation is 'tests, tests and more tests'.
I'm not on close terms with any wisteria, though I do like it.
Urk to the dissertating. I'm also working on an assignment, but it's 'only' 4000 words, thank goodness. There's no way I'm even going to consider taking this course to the full MSc level - why would anyone want to dissertate about libraries? I just can' bring myself to do it. Dissertating about something interesting for my MA was hard enough! , Rosemary!

MR, if the X is having issues that will affect his unit, call the CO.

I really don't have the experience and skills to work for MSF at the moment! In a way I want to. But I also like the idea of getting stuck into a hospital and staying long enough to make a difference.
Well I think I totally ballsed up the South African Interview. It was on my moblie phone and very quite, they had 4 people on speaker phone. It was really odd because I was in the only place with good reception -the car park- getting soaked to the skin. South Africa seemed a very attractive prospect.
They were looking for someone who would stay for a mimimum of two years, I was planning on going for a mimimum of one and staying on if things were working out. I was quite honest about this.
Oh well.
Scotland still haven't made offers - but the GP training scheme has made offers so the other two Docs who I work with have jobs. Scotland may tell me tomorrow when I will hear from them.
One of the questions was 'why do you want to work somewhere rural with limited rescouses' I couldn't see why not everyone would want to work there! so it was quite difficult to say why I did.

I agree with GDZ - if the ex is having problems that will affect the other people he works with, his employer needs to know. Only if it's an emergency, though! The military may be the only thing keeping him from going totally bonkers.
> My left foot and ankle are swollen and painful from the flight home. The same thing happened last time to the point of getting x-rays because I was worried about a blood clot. It took several weeks for the swelling to go away completely. It would look pretty good in the morning then be huge again by noon. I wonder if this is God's way of telling me to stay home where I belong? The puzzle is why it happens on the flight home but not the flight over.
My left foot and ankle swell up on long trips, and there's circulation problems that seem to be connected to my lower back. It gets worse when I'm tired or working too hard. Don't know if that's your problem or not, but laying on my tummy with an ice pack on my lower back seems to help. I think it's my sciatic nerve.
I think I've made an unwise purchase. I bought a vehicle in a hurry, and it looks like it has more problems than I thought. My only choice is to fix as much as I can, and hope it holds together. Grrr... Can't afford this right now.

That would be the dilemma part. It isn't really affecting his unit, but it is affecting his child's benefits. And that's NOT a good thing.

MR - I don't know - is your motivation 'doing what's best for him'? I don't know enoguh about how the miltary works, whether support would go in place or not . I know lots of miltitary guys go off the rails so hopefully they're good at noticing anyhow.
Good luck Hyp - hope the legs go down soon.
I hope librarian pears ok. Do steriods give you a rush in the short term? I must quiz my patients more closely

If your military works the same as ours there will be a civillian welfare worker on the base hired by the military to liasie with the family of the serving member....you could speak to them cofidentially explain the situation and have them advise you....that way there is nothing on his official record but someone with an understanding of how things work can give you information.

My round of steroids made me feel more energetic. I had to be careful not to do too much, because of fatigue, so I really didn't have any more energy. I also didn't sleep all that well - kept waking up. My dr. told me that some people have more energy with steroids, and some feel run-down.

"Have you attended that wisteria festival, SC? I would so totally go. I'm a sucker for funky community festivals."
Not yet -- I always plan to go, then something gets in the way. Maybe Teucher is right, and there's a dodgy sort of wistaria plot or something...
I love those community fairs, too. Glendale has a couple of them, one based on the granting of the land to the Verdugo family about 170 years ago, "Days of the Verdugos", by the government of Spain, and one devoted to cars, "Cruise Night" -- for which they close down the main drag. If I'm remembering right, the first one also involves the "Blessing of the Cars".

*mutters* probably would have helped to mention that the government of Spain granted the land, not put on the Days of the Verdugos...*

OMG. There's been a fire going on in Griffith Park again. This time it's threatening the Griffith Observatory, which was just reopened four months ago, after a $10 million, 4-year refit!
It was the setting for the famous scene in "Rebel Without a Cause", with James Dean and Natalie Wood, where Dean has the knife fight with Sal Mineo...
My neighborhood has been reeking with smoke all afternoon, and I've been worried about the zoo animals, since the L.A. Zoo is in the same area as the fire. they had 1200 visitors there when the fire broke out, and had to evacuate them -- but what about the animals??
Please send good vibes to the firefighters and the park...

for Librarian Pear.
And positive thoughts for the firefighters too.
I am rather indebted to the neighbour down the road who has a jasmine type plant crawling over his walls. Makes the last 100 metres to my flat very fragrant.
My mother grows honeysuckle round the door of the family home. That's nice too.
Am having a bit of trouble with email for some reason, Teuchter. It doesn't seem to want to let me send anything. Have prodded it again now. Thanks.
