Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.") Posted Mar 20, 2004
[GDZ- who planned on being up an hour later than he actually was. Why can't kids sleep in on saturday?]

w00t! That band Humanity I'm sure I mentioned earlier...just had an email exchange with the guy who runs the label they're signed to...send him details of local venues, and if the band can snatch a gig at one I am rewarded with a band meet plus freebies. To quote Teen Girl Squad: "sooooooo good!"

Gday everybody!
*rips off a coupon, adds the word "Lurker" to it, and hands it to Coely*
I've got a nice momentum going just now for real-life tasks, so I'll be back later when I've got some stuff done.
Nice to see you, Professor!

It's Mother's Day here in the UK tomorrow and it looks like turning into the usual tug of war. Perhaps that's over stating it, but H's sister won't be visiting their Mum, which is a bit off as it's their Mum's birthday too, they were expecting her and she didn't visit at Xmas either. So H has had a 'subtle' hint from his Dad about how it would be nice if he could go over and see her, but this was only an hour or so ago, with no regard for our plans. But this is what he does, leaves it until the last minute, if he had been in touch a month ago and suggested organising something, then we could have sorted something out
Natch, I would like to spend Mother's Day with the sons, No2 son and g/f have yet to confirm if we are going to their house or if they are coming here and now H will feel guilty if he doesn't fit in a quick visit to his parents.
I'm beginning to think that all 'family' occasions are best avoided by a trip out of the country!

Christ, yeah, my mate just told me it was Mother's Day tomorrow. I'm gonna have to dip into tonight's beer fund for a card >_<
Anyone fancy a looksie at my new entry on Judas Priest? A2441431 I've been rather disappointed by the entries on Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple that gloss over the best parts of their careers, so I thought I'd do a decent job with one of my favourite bands. Only I've suffered somewhat from compulsive writing and still have 23 years of career to cover...

Chris Tonks! Just in time too - I've re-seeded my lawn. If that university degree thing doesn't work out, I've got a job all lined up and waiting for you. And my utility room could use painting too.
There really ought to be two of every holiday, at least. Paternal Mother's Day and Maternal Mother's Day. Paternal Christmas and Maternal Christmas. Etc.

Oh, goodness, 240 posts here and 100++ in the old thread. He-e-elp!
I have just finished loading a new version of my poetry site online: http://www.bethcargill.co.uk - I'd appreciate some comments, (I am not sure about the colours for a start, and can't decide whether the annotations are cleverly done or suck). Any comments might be better in F52650?thread=297276&latest=1 than here, though.
I'll try and tackle some backlog now....

Aaaaaargh! I've just realised I haven't posted a card to my Mum in Scotland.
I thought it was next week - poor excuse, but the only one I've got.
What do other salonistas think of these occasions? Are we being egged-on by commercial enterprises in 'their' interests?
And Easter Cards - this is a fairly recent thing in the UK - does anyone send them?
If you've already thrashed this one out before I joined you - please ignore.

Very nice pictures, Caer.
And what a pleasure it is to see that they are now growing bananas directly in the shopping bag! Will wonders never cease!

My sister-in-law sends cards to my daughter on every single holiday...don't know where she finds some of them, let me tell you!
Caer, I am very jealous of your vacation. Very. But then again, I live in SoCal, so I suppose I'm surrounded by stuff like that a lot. Now if I only had time to actually enjoy it!
Courtesy, you called, but my phone was on the fritz. I'm not ignoring you!

As Motehring Sunday has been going for over 150 years, I don't object to it, except that it would be nice if ~some~ people *looking at father-in-law in wedding photo* wouldn't leave it until too late to try and arrange something and then just make others feel guilty!
I have sent Easter cards for over 38 years now, ever since I was away at school, but only to immediate family.

Welcome back, Tonks! Long time, no see.
I don't think that I've ever played the game "Philosopher's Quest." Must keep an eye out for it.

Sometimes I think I'm made, I'm currenlty drinking my own weight in coffee so that I can do a weekends worth of work in an evening, so that I can get up at 7.10 tomorrow morning to go and stand on a moutain, for 8 hours in a 40 knot wind.

Well, with regards to Teuchter's post (provocative agent - how appropriate!)...technically it is Mother's Day already over here, and I've just given my mum a savage (by my own admission) dressing down...I've just come back from a party where I leapt behind the bar after closing time to pour myself another pint, and owned up to it when I got home...basically, very personal issues got involved. I feel a bit bad now, just wait til I get over the hangover in the morning...
As far as Easter goes...meh, I get chocolate eggs and cash. It's a Pagan festival, so if other people want to indulge me with the christian attatchments, so be it! I am too ignorant/drunk to remember the full Pagan responsiblities to this time of year, but I have no attatchment to christianity so I have no reason to fulfill that side of the obligation!
Key: Complain about this post
