Happy birthday d'E
There were several other things in the backlog I was going to respond to but now, well things have moved on since then.

I've been doing Atkins too, Gw7en, and I immediately felt much better but the weight loss was slow at first and has been in fits and starts since. It definitely works but not 'as advertised' for everyone. However, I've lost 10kg in six months and I'm now in the pre-maintenance phase having decided to eat this way for life.

That's great, Amy! Its always nice to hear success stories. Keeps one motivated at 6 in the morning after a long night's work and the prospect of no caffeine - for another few days at least.
I really am feeling much better, though. Now all I have to do is get the move over with and I'll be on my way to being fit as a fiddle - mentally, emotionally and physically.

One of my staff members has lost 20 lbs on Atkins in about 10 weeks. She's looking wonderful - not a large person to begin with. Anyway, I'm thinking of giving it a go after the first of the year.
And Gw7en, I had another staffer who ate nothing at all but chicken (cooked any way - even breaded and fried, pork rinds and raw Fuji apples for nearly 4 months and lost over 50 pounds. We didn't know whether to encourage her or send for the men in the white coats. She has already started regaining it, though.
We have out first snow of the season. Big wet glakes clinging to the trees, transforming everything into a fairyland.
*The Hypatia action figure with automatic shusher brings out paper plates and party hats, and , for a dignified and well-mannered birthday celebration. She hopes the Affie puppet continues to sit quietly, that the lights stay on, that the unaus don't get into the cake and that Zeppo doesn't wind up in his suspensor belt again.*

/* The sock puppet wiggles a little, then it's mouth starts going up and down but completely out-of-sync */
Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

I just love golden labradors
I shall not be going on the Atkins diet, it's just too difficult with a veggie in the house. Once Crimble is over I shall be making ral efforts with a low GI and low fat diet. The little I have done so far seems to work within the strictures of family cooking, providing you paln the meals out in advance and can nip to the shops regularly for lots of resh fruit and veg.

If the M6 relief road does cut the time taken to make a journey around Birmingham, then I for one would be totally happy to pay to use it. I still have nighmares about the time I got stuck around the M42/M6 junction when on my way to Wolverhampton to watch a football match. I missed most of the first half and that is despite me allowing 5 hours for the journey up from Sussex
Oh, and have you all stopped talking in Hungarian... sorry programming... languages for the time being? Or do I have to find Egon and sit down next to him and nod sagely for a bit longer.

Good morning!
No, the questions were becoming too specific to admit of general conversation, so I've dropped the matter of programming for the time being.
It's a cold morning, wth enough ambient moisture for there to be some frost, rather a rare thing of late.

The Hypatia action figure with automatic shusher approaches the Affy puppet with a purposeful look in her eyes.
"It appears that someone has a long overdue book," she says. "On casting magic spells," she says. "And would you happen to know who that someone is? Eh, young man?"
The Affy puppet attempts to make a reply, but the automatic shusher activates. "Shush! I'll do the talking here. I expect you to have that book back on my desk in the library at 1800 hours. Or you'll wish you had. I know a little about magic myself."
